Director, Network

The Director, Network is to be the business and clinical relationships partner to the Regional President, Market Operations and Clinical leaders, Specialty leaders, and Hospital and Community Care Team and is responsible for the development and management of the local network of external providers and facilities for the execution of ChenMed’s model for care coordination. This is accomplished by developing and maintaining trusting external relationships with physicians and external specialists, hospital and post-acute providers, and payers in pursuit of improving outcomes and medical cost. Relationship goals include maximizing understanding of the ChenMed care model, establishing well defined partnerships, and honing mutually beneficial contractual terms. The Director, Network will manage a team of Network Representatives or Senior Network Representatives in establishing and managing relationships with all external providers on the local Coordinated Provider List (CPL) and Coordinated Facility List (CFL) by ensuring that provider rounding visits are completed on a weekly basis and that all Network Representatives / Senior Network Representatives leverage these relationships to optimize access, clinical outcomes, and total cost of care for ChenMed patients. The Director, Network will collaborate with the Regional President, Market Operations & Clinical leadership, and Regional Field Finance leadership towards performance objectives, value benchmarks, and processes to optimize the care received outside the ChenMed’s centers and ensuring continuity of care for patients with integrated in-center care. As a senior leader at the Regional level, the Director, Network will be accountable for specific elements of medical cost performance across all markets within their Region. **ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Has matrixed accountability for total medical cost and quality of care external to ChenMed within the region. + Represents ChenMed and ChenMed’s model adeptly to the healthcare community and leads the development of strong partnerships with payers, hospital executives, & specialists in the region. + Maintain knowledge of specialty and hospital cost trends, market dynamics, cost drivers. + Conduct contract negotiations with provider groups as needed to enhance availability, accessibility, quality and value of services. + Responsible for building strong relationships with high volume community specialists in local market to improve operational efficiencies and provide feedback on quality and practice patterns, in partnership with local Regional Chief Medical Officers and Center Medical Directors. + Work with various departments (operations, legal, and payor relations) to ensure contracts meet operating, financial and legal standards. + Partners with Regional/Market leadership, Finance, Specialty Care, and Hospital and Community Care Team (HCT) to build a comprehensive network strategy to support center level performance metrics + Presents medical costs, key performance trends and opportunities, and corrective actions to deploy to center, regional, and divisional leaders + Builds, refines, and manages network of external specialists and facilities to form a Coordinated Provider List (CPL) and Coordinated Facility List (CFL) to maximize patient outcomes based on qualitative and quantitative inputs + Partners with other internal and external stakeholders to develop and operationalize enterprise-wide initiatives + Trains, educates, and manages all Network Representatives and Senior Network Representatives in other markets on enterprise best practices in building CPLs, routinely fostering relationships with community specialists, and educating regional/center dyads on medical cost opportunities and strategies to deploy + Manages the Network Representatives / Senior Network Representatives provider rounding cadence with external specialists, hospitals, and ChenMed Center personnel to ensure that visits are completed at the prescribed cadence and that the partnerships drive to the target improvements in clinical outcomes for ChenMed patients and reduce the total cost of care + Leads Regional review meetings to report on referral operations and medical cost performance data and provide progress reporting on tactics to drive KPI optimization and target improvements to medical costs. + Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: + Ability to interpret data trends & present opportunities to physicians, clinical & business leaders + Current, relevant, and advanced knowledge of areas related to medical cost, quality and value, and other clinical issues, especially within a managed care environment, required + Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, and providers and to work effectively independently and as part of a team + Demonstrated success in persuasion, influence, and negotiation, excellent customer service skills + Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to PCPs and staff, and to build the trust and respect of leaders, colleagues, and external contacts + Understands and is committed to maintaining highest level of confidentiality + Advanced knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare plans + Excellent management and reasoning abilities; ability to work in a fast-paced environment + Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation software; analytical software packages such as Power BI, QlikView and Qlik Sense desirable + Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the time + Spoken and written fluency in English + This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA: + BA/BS degree in Healthcare Administration or a closely related field required; additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis; Master’s degree a plus. + Minimum six plus (8+) years’ experience building and managing national provider networks + This position requires possession and maintenance of a current, valid Driver’s License + Prior experience working in a Medicare Managed Care environment preferred. + Experience in budgetary and operational profit/loss with cost containment in value-based care. + Experience working with health plans, specialists, hospital providers, and post-acute providers, including skilled nursing facilities, home health, behavioral health, social service, and other agencies; contract negotiation and account/vendor management We’re ChenMed and we’re transforming healthcare for seniors and changing America’s healthcare for the better.
