Job Description

The Director, Oncology Patient Services Strategy establishes a direct interface between AbbVie Patient Services (APS) and the Oncology team to champion patient support. This role is the strategic and cross-functional lead who defines and implements innovative solutions, ensuring patients have an optimal experience throughout their treatment journey on AbbVie’s oncology therapies.

Major Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and collaborate across functional teams to strategically drive patient-centric outcomes:

Serve as a key cross-functional strategist and critical link between the Patient Services team and the broad Oncology portfolio, representing APS on the Integrated Brand Team (IBT) and the IBT to APS.Formulate and own the strategy for Oncology-focused patient support programs, encompassing both launch initiatives and ongoing optimization, by:Identifying an Oncology Portfolio ApproachLeading the PACT to define APS franchise and specific-brand strategies for Oncology therapies. Soliciting and harmonizing inputs from the Patient Access and Care Team (PACT).Supporting functional teams in identifying patient needs, industry trends, and actionable strategies to enhance patient support.Driving program effectiveness through PACT deep dives into metrics and improvement opportunities.Leading the development and presentation of PSP narratives for senior leadership reviews.Guide APS in the annual planning process inclusive of the financial and brand plans (e.g. LRP, Investment Allocation (IA), Strategic Planning process) in alignment with Oncology brand strategies and long-range planning (LRR, SP2).Act as the primary orchestrator for Oncology-related senior leadership reviews, advocating for alignment on strategic initiatives across APS and Oncology leadership.Maintain ongoing communication with all functional stakeholders, ensuring timely and consistent updates on strategic initiatives and program performance.Lead internal teams to uncover evolving customer needs, regulatory requirements, and competitive trends, and leverage those insights to refine patient support programs.Partner with APS operations and planning teams to facilitate decision-making processes that advance the Oncology Patient Support Program.Manage a direct report, providing coaching, guidance, and professional development to foster expertise and integration across APS and Oncology teams.Stay informed on oncology-specific trends, patient dynamics, and clinical advancements to guide strategy and program enhancements.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare, with demonstrated expertise in leading strategic initiatives and program execution.Strong strategic business acumen and a data-driven mindset to inform decision-making.

Skills and Capabilities:

Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in matrixed environments, aligning diverse stakeholders on shared objectives.Proficiency in understanding and addressing brand-specific needs and market trends to inform strategic planning.Proven experience in relationship-building across internal and external teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.Executive presence, with strong writing, presentation, and story-telling skills, and the ability to navigate and resolve complex situations.Ability to influence without direct authority, effectively motivating teams and stakeholders toward solutions.Experience in managing and coaching team members, emphasizing professional growth and cross-functional integration.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
