What is the opportunity?
The Director is primarily responsible for supporting many functions such as effective monitoring and control on all material credit risks across RBC’s Lending Portfolio, and assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within the Supply Chain, Diversified, Not-For-Profit, Retail, and Business Services industries. Additionally, this role is a people management role leading a team. As such, the responsibilities range from applying knowledge directly on individual credit submissions to providing coaching and leadership to a team of adjudicators.
The Director will focus on maintaining the risk profile, alignment with the business, operational effectiveness, and sharing best practices with business partners and working towards high level of efficiency in management of assigned portfolios, and enhancing the client experience.
What will you do?
Lead and apply consistent and effective performance management practices with all direct reports: clearly communicate what is expected of them and how their performance is measured, in particular with respect to client experience, maintaining a strong risk profile, and managing assigned portfolio in such a way as to minimize losses and maximize returnAdjudicate credit applications within your delegated lending limits. Influence portfolio quality through strategic assessment of risk, attention to data quality and knowledge-sharing.Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and being followed to protect shareholder interests. Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures and mitigate risks as necessary.Enhance change management by ensuring how we approach change is reflective of a One RBC mindsetDemonstrate leadership and commitment to build/expand/leverage good working relationships with the relevant GU(s) executive and CFS personnel to promote a mindset that risk is everybody’s business, that early problem identification is critical to maintaining the risk profile and in maximizing retention opportunitiesEnsure clients and colleagues are treated with respect, a highly professional empathetic approach is used, and good working relationships are maintained. Look for, and act upon, opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices.Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by building team capability, identifying opportunity spotting to enhance client relationships while mitigating RBC risk.Deliver consistent decisions with solid communication of rationale for support, amendments or declines.Partner with stakeholders to achieve collective results. Act as a catalyst to ensure team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank’s desired risk profile.Take initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication fully utilizing other resources including other risk teams.Develop and coach adjudicators while leading a small teamMUST-HAVE
5+ years of risk management experience and/or Commercial Account Management experience with a preferred focus on Supply Chain, Diversified, Not-For-Profit, Retail, and Business Services industries.Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skillsUndergraduate Degree in Business is requiredNice-to-have:
In-depth knowledge of RBC Risk Policies, procedures & practices, Folios etc.Proficiency with Bank Technology.Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.)Experience as a Commercial Account Manager sourcing and originating businessBilingual - Fluency in FrenchWhat’s in it for you?
