Job Title: Director, Operations

Position Summary:
This position will provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership for manufacturing operations, (which include but not limited to, production, packaging, and warehouse) to deliver the highest quality products at the lowest attainable cost. In addition, this position will be responsible for ensuring a close partnership with all stakeholder groups to ensure proper development, cost, and delivery goals are met.
This position creates and implements processes that minimize production costs and waste while maximizing production output. It also recommends methods to improve safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. It ensures adherence to corporate policies and procedures. This position establishes operational objectives and assignments. It delegates assignments to managers and supervisors. It is responsible for implementing company policies which affect immediate operation(s) and may also have company-wide effect. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. It exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. It ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met. It complies with SQF Level III, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards and cGMP.
The Role:
Oversee and direct the planning and execution of daily production & packaging activities.Implement Continuous Improvement to generate improvement plans that feature both short and long-term improvements with and without capital investment. Supports the development and implementation of financial and non-financial objectives for all the manufacturing facilities, including the annual budget, financial forecasts, and operating plans.Accountable for the manufacturing department budget which includes production, packaging, and warehouse. Utilizes data to facilitate the timely, accurate interpretation, and reporting of performance, quality, and safety data. Schedule, train, and mentor all crews so that they can produce at maximum efficiency.Drive key initiatives throughout the manufacturing Teams in the areas of Quality, Sustainability, Cost, and Service through Continuous ImprovementResponsible for driving issues to root cause and developing a zero-loss mentality. Responsible for the department staffing strategy, skill and development of the staff, performance management and employee morale.Develops or revises standard operational and working practices. Identify and address constraints that prevent achievement from schedule and/or provide feedback with appropriate data if schedule is unattainable.Identify opportunities for improvement directly including process and performance issues. Constructively obtain employee input and develop and implement action plans.Develops and implements financial and non-financial objectives for the facilities including the annual budget, financial forecasts and operating plans.Resolve variances (production/packaging reporting, ingredient usage, labor utilization).Provides consultation and leadership in the administration and interpretation of production, packaging, quality assurance, environmental, safety, and maintenance policies and procedures.Support, participate in, and meet the Company overall Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures (OGSM). Track, report, and post efficiency and reliability performance of each machine.Manage Key Performance Indicators KPI for Manufacturing and participate in the target setting process for Supply Chain that generates substantial improvements with a goal to exceed KPI targets. Prepare, maintain, and present monthly key performance indicators to the Executive Team (KPI’s).Work with R&D to scale-up new products to production batches and document new production instructions and equipment settingsEnsure accident/loss prevention and security policies are followed. Maintain safe and healthy working environments to include the coordination of safety programs including OSHA, fire safety and environmental protection requirements.The Candidate:
BS degree or related work experience.7-10 years of operations experience.5-7 years of operations management experienceStrong analytical/problem solving/process improvement skills.Basic accounting knowledge with P&L and budgeting experienceProficiency with Word, Excel, Power-Point and other report writing tools.Strong leadership and team building skills, with an ability to build trust, provide direction, and execute with excellence.Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding work environment with constant deadlines, interruptions, and competing priorities.Knowledge of machinery operations, equipment, and regulatory complianceDemonstrate accuracy and thoroughness with ability to improve and promote quality and safety.Continuous improvement and/or Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.Why You Should Join Catalent
