Director, Operations (Dermpath)

Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including delegating various duties and responsibilities to managers as necessary. Work with employees and pathologists to ensure timely and accurate patient reports are generated and delivered to our client base. 


Participate on multiple committees (LIS Users Group, Best Practices, Comprehensive Reporting, Scanning) in an effort to standardize and improve operations within Dermpath Diagnostics. Ensure all managers and employees adhere to company policies and procedures. Interview new applicants as necessary. Participate on internal committees to improve the quality of service provided by the practice. Evaluate the performance of the management staff and provide positive and constructive feedback for the next appraisal period. Work with corporate accounting and finance for budgeting, month actual vs. budget, and accounts payable issues. Participate on Financial calls to facilitate cash collections, proper billing, coding, contractual adjustments, and bad debt write-offs. Lead monthly Commercial/operational meetings to ensure client satisfaction, client education, and production of new business. Communicate with  the franchise team and potential clients to obtain contracts for professional and technical services. Review and approve all vendor invoices for all laboratory purchases. Create all Capitol Expenditure Forms for capital equipment purchases. Stay abreast of all regulatory changes pertinent to the laboratory operations. Assist commercial by joining them on client visits as requested. Communicate with client offices as necessary concerning fee schedules, reporting requirements and difficult issues. Ensure all records (blocks, slides, reports, etc.) are kept for the proper retention period. Manage LIS database, including validation of new versions, building and scheduing reports, etc.

Required Work Experience:  

3 years lab management experienceExperience with medical billing and overall operations including IT. 

Preferred Work Experience:  

5+ years lab management experience, preferrably in Anatomic Pathology

Physical and Mental Requirements:  

Requires full range of body motion including manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination 

Knowledge:  

Proficiency in MS Office.  Experience with medical billing and overall operations including IT. Related Regulations including OSHA, EPA, CLIA, CAP, NFPA, DOT, ICAO, HIPAA, STARK and others. State and Federal laboratory licensing requirements. Labor laws 

Skills:  

Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills. PC, windows, and related software. Demonstrated understanding of continuous improvement, process management, and systems thinking.Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others.Advanced data analysis skills.Financial and Business acumenProblem-solving skills with the ability to learn new concepts rapidly   Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats:  formal presentations, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos   Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Interpersonal skills Planning and organization skills Results-oriented  Creative Persistent Composed Able to learn new concepts rapidly
