What is the opportunity?

This senior level operational leadership role is responsible for the comprehensive development and execution of all Claims enablement and Healthcare Innovations Strategies. The position is responsible for leading teams of Clinical, Doctoral, Vocational Rehabilitation, Appeals & Litigation, Independent Medical Examination, Claims Medical Translation and Travel Operations teams and is responsible for developing, leading and supporting the risk strategies and practices within the Claims environment and drive healthcare innovations.  The incumbent leads teams of expert Claims Professional who manage risks, evaluate, and effectively communicate risk decisions that impacts RBC financial commitments. The incumbent must have the ability to manage all levels of people through coaching, goal setting and execution of change management.  Also required is the ability to develop and influence strategies to improve operating effectiveness.

What will you do?

•The position is responsible for leading teams of Clinical, Doctoral, Vocational Rehabilitation, Appeals & Litigation, Independent Medical Examination, Claims Medical Translation and Travel Operations teams and is responsible for supporting the risk strategies and practices within the Claims environment leading a team of skilled professional

•Leadership of a high visibility client service and delivery team. The role must effectively balance the needs of many key stakeholders – sales advisors, brokers, group risk partners, product, pricing, claims, reinsurance, corporate underwriting – to effectively collaborate on cross-functional, interdepartmental initiatives to develop better solutions and achieve a one company claim team environment.

•Effectively balance the needs of many key stakeholders – sales advisors, brokers, group risk partners, product, pricing, reinsurance, corporate underwriting when making claims decisions, while also delivering on cycle time expectations

•Influence key partners such as Product, Corporate Underwriting and Group Risk to create policies and practices based on actual events/client feedback/employee suggestions that challenge the status quo and deliver on the true needs of clients while remaining within RBCs risk tolerance thresholds

•Lead development and execution of strategies and tactics in support of operational risk execution excellence, strong claim quality, and safety & soundness

•Identify emerging trends and provide insight and direction on claims healthcare innovation practices to respond to such trends

What will you need to succeed?

Must Have

•Minimum of 10 years of proven managerial, Life and Health Insurance Claims experience in a large multi-disciplinary operational setting

•Proven leader, with a growth mindset, strong data analytics skills and is seasoned change practitioner.

•Minimum of 3 industry courses completed, one industry designation preferred (e.g. ALHC, FLMI, HIAA)

Nice to Have

•Bilingualism in both French and English, written and spoken is considered an asset

•Clinical and/or allied healthcare professional experiences/designations would be valued
