The Director, Patient Advocacy, RD will create the strategy and implement the plan to refine JJ’s approach to patient advocacy within research and development. In a rapidly changing external environment, this role will be key in building strong relationships with patient advocacy organizations and patient communities to better understand their challenges, needs, and experiences.

Experience is required in one of the below areas; in several, is a plus.

Development of a patient advocacy framework to engage with the patient advocacy organizations in RD activities to create an integrated, differentiated, and superior experience for patients. This framework will be then applied across the JJ development portfolio.Development of disease area/trial level advocacy plans for RD, to integrate the patient perspective in a strategic way and further refine our protocol design, operational execution, and speed to market in specific therapeutic areas. This leader will work to translate the overall advocacy strategy into realistic plans to improve patient and site voice in our clinical development programs.Identification and implementation of above/trial advocacy/policy initiatives that matters to patients and JJ's RD program efforts.Transformation of the JJ RD culture, processes, SOPs and KPIs to embed patient advocacy in JJ RD day-to-day workflow.

This role will partner internally with the Innovation Health team, Global Development, Policy and Patient Advocacy, therapeutic area teams, commercial, bioethics, legal, policy, and compliance.

Externally, with patient organizations, regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders.

The Patient Advocacy Director must have vision and dedication needed to bring a new role to life, including building new Innovation strategies and best practices, bringing new industry differentiating capabilities to the Global Development Delivery Unit, and creating new sources of value within drug development to patients and sites.

Key Responsibilities:Develop a patient advocacy strategic framework in RD with our business partners, engaging with the patient communities to create an integrated, differentiated, and superior experience for patients across JJ’s portfolioDevelop and drive the implementation of a disease area/trial patient advocacy strategy to further refine our protocol design, operational execution, and speed to market in specific therapeutic areas.Identify and implement the above disease area /policy initiatives that matters to patients and JJ's RD program/efforts.Map and update SOPs and KPIs to embed patient advocacy in JJ' RD day-to-day workflow. At least 8 years of experience in patient advocacy and/or engagement either as a full-time job or acquired by working on projects with the patient communities is requiredUnderstanding of drug development is requiredTrusted, driven, inclusive leader with demonstrated effectiveness in fostering team productivity and cohesiveness is required.Demonstration of ability to manage complexity and collaboration with numerous cross-functional teams and influence internal and external stakeholders is required.Understanding of complexities associated with the changing health care environment is requiredAbility to demonstrate effective communication of technical information is required.Demonstration of strong skills in strategic planning/development and execution is required.Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.Ability to demonstrate a strong customer-centric approach and focus is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 USD to $244,950 USD.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
