Reporting to the Senior Director, Patient Care Services (PCS), the Director, Patient Assistance Programs provides strategic leadership and is responsible for programmatic direction and oversight of all financial need-based programs and services offered through the division of PCS. Oversees all programming and operations related to the Adult Resource Office, Patient Assistance Funds and Programs, and Therapeutic Food Pantry. Supervises and mentors the leaders of these areas. Develops and oversees growth of current and new programs related to supporting patient financial need. Collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team of stakeholders across DFCI (ambulatory, inpatient, pediatrics) to ensure evidence-based, high-quality, inclusive, and accessible financial need-based patient resources across the Enterprise. Partners with other PCS leaders to promote “resource integration” efforts to improve information and access to available resources.

Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and direction for operations and programming of the Adult Resource Office, Therapeutic Food Pantry and Patient Assistance programs.Design and implement infrastructure to support leadership and professional development of staff.Support direct reports in addressing escalated patient circumstances.Participate in strategic planning with senior director of PCS and the Leadership Team patient and family programs and services as needed.Serve as primary resource lead for Institute-wide projects supporting access to need-based resources. Collaborate with colleagues within PCS, NPCS (Nursing and Patient Care Services), and outside the department to ensure seamless, complementary resource support and care.Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners, serving as liaison on external committees as the opportunities arise.Manage operating and gift fund budgets across patient assistance programs.In collaboration with senior director, engage with donors via division of Philanthropy.Ensure all operations follow federal, state, local, and DFCI patient assistance regulatory standards and policies.Partners with other PCS directors to promote Resource Integration efforts across the Institute.Lead “Resource Rounds” and other efforts designed to educate colleagues about available resources.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly oversees staff supporting Adult Resource Office, Patient Assistance Funds and Programs, and Therapeutic Food Pantry Qualifications Master’s degree in clinical, mezzo, or macro social work, human services, or health-related field required10 years of relevant experience required; non-profit, education, or healthcare setting preferred5 years of progressive leadership experience required
