Director, Performance Improvement

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! **The Role:** Under the direction of the Executive Director, Operations, the Director of Performance Improvement will develop and lead a team of experts dedicated to guiding our ministry through major change initiatives. With regional accountability for the California Ministries, this role is integral in coaching executives, engaging physicians, and facilitating staff to ensure the long-term success of our Population Health Management strategy. As the Director, you will assess, recommend, and lead improvement activities across departments and our region, using Lean tools to transform care delivery. This role demands a leader who is comfortable challenging the status quo and has a deep expertise in Lean improvement methodologies and organizational transformation. The Director is accountable for outcomes that align with the Triple Aim. **What You'll Do:** + **Strategic Assessor:** Conduct comprehensive departmental and regional assessments, offer strategic recommendations, and guide improvement opportunities that align with the Triple Aim of reducing costs, enhancing quality, and improving the patient experience. + **Lean Process Champion:** Coach Operational Improvement Specialists on Lean process improvement. Build a team capable of leading large-scale change initiatives that integrate seamlessly with our strategic plan. Prioritize, assign, and oversee projects, events, and initiatives to accelerate region-wide transformation. + **Executive Partner:** Support and guide senior leadership through major change initiatives. Collaborate with leadership when progress stalls or significant needs go unmet. Utilize Lean principles and concepts to achieve defined goals and expectations. Engage leaders at the onset of change initiatives, ensure commitment through a written compact, and report monthly results to Operations. + **Physician Collaborator:** Engage physicians in the development and advancement of our Population Health initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. + **Outcome Reporter:** Develop and report outcomes for every initiative. Create detailed narratives and report monthly outcomes to the VP of Population Health. Connect initiatives to Population Health and other strategic goals. Prioritize projects, expand successful tests of change, and make recommendations for adjustments when pilots do not produce desired results. + **Cross-Functional Contributor:** Serve on task forces, committees, and workgroups as requested. Collaborate with Operations, Information Systems, Finance, Quality, Decision Support, and other departments. + **Leadership Educator:** Provide the senior leadership team with ongoing updates and education on progress and barriers to implementation and sustainment. Conduct presentations and complete reports to SJHS as requested. **What You'll Bring:** + **Educational Foundation:** Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field or equivalent experience. A Master's Degree is preferred, and a Bachelor's Degree in progress with a high school diploma or GED is acceptable. + **Certifications:** Black Belt Certification in Lean or Six Sigma upon hire; additional quality certifications (CPHQ, ASQ, etc.) are preferred. + **Experience:** At least 5 years of experience applying Lean or Six Sigma/Quality implementation and education strategies within a consulting organization, industry, or hospital setting, demonstrating proven director-level abilities.
