UHealth/SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a full time Director, Pharmacy with a hire date of December, 2024. Be part of the UHealth Difference.

The Director, Pharmacy directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for pharmacy services, and oversees all pharmacy operations. Moreover, the Director, Pharmacy recommends innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration, and carries out mutually agreed upon programs. This employee also maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effectiveness.

Core Job Functions:                                                                                          

Works with physicians and pharmacy staff to administer cost effective pharmacology therapy with a timely protocol.

Reviews, monitors, and recommends changes to prescription programs and formulary, including limitations, pre-authorizations, exceptions, and non-covered items.

Directs and coordinates functions of the Pharmacy Department in accordance with government rules and regulations.

Directs performance improvement activities for the department and reviews opportunities for cost reductions through formulary control.

Ensures the quality and cost effectiveness of departmental operations and patient care services throughout the assigned service areas or patient care locations.

Implements procedures according to hospital policies and legal requirements.

Analyzes records for prescribing trends and inappropriate usage.

Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Core Qualifications:                                                                                       

Education:

Pharm.D. degree from an accredited institution

Certification and Licensing:

Valid State of Florida Pharmacist license

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Knowledge of business and management principles.

Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
