**JOB SUMMARY**
**Candidates can work out of the following locations:**
Topeka, KS, Wichita KS, Cedar Rapids, IA, or Novi, MI
Actively lead a team of engineers and technical staff responsible for transmission planning. Engage on various projects related to the expansion of the transmission system. Responsible for achieving opco planning compliance with NERC standards and other applicable planning requirements. Supports company efforts at the corporate-wide level with outside entities including transmission customers, project partners, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO), states, and regional compliance entities.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Provides strategic direction, work direction, and leadership to a technically oriented team.
+ Sets clear guidelines and expectations for team members including the development and accountability to work plans.
+ Develops or directs transmission expansion plans for appropriate time horizons related to specific operating company needs.
+ Oversees submittal of operating company plans for review and approval both internally and externally.
+ Develops and maintains positive working relationships with internal entities such as the Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Regulatory and Legal and external entities such as regulators, generator owners and developers, other transmission owners and cooperatives and load serving entities.
+ Engage and advance ITC objectives in the relevant regional planning processes
+ Assists company regulatory and financial representatives with strategic technical consultation including, assisting, or writing various corporate filings with regulatory bodies or providing direct testimony.
+ Monitor and attempt to influence evolving policy and select regulatory activities that may have an impact on the Company.
+ Supports development of practices, policies, and procedures for planning functions.
+ Supports ITC's business model by taking an active role on various committees, panels and working groups at appropriate regional entities, state(s), and other industry related groups directly impacting operating company planning.
+ Provides input on compliance and develops operating company level documents needed to achieve compliance.
+ Generates and/or reviews internal and external reports on various facets of transmission system planning.
+ Performs or directs performance of steady-state thermal and voltage, short circuit, stability, interconnection and other studies of the transmission system using specialized computer software applications.
+ Responsible for integrity of data needed for operations and planning (i.e. ratings, impedances, power flow models, etc.)
**REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
+ Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electric transmission area.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
+ Possesses sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
+ Extensive knowledge of transmission planning, tariffs and relevant state, federal and regional regulations. Experience with Southwest Power Pool (SPP) processes is desired.
+ Ability to foresee and interpret changes to policies and regulations that impact transmission business.
+ Ability to create a team environment where employees are motivated to perform at a high level.
+ Ability to manage complex interpersonal situations.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals with various levels of technical understanding and background both inside and outside the Company.
+ Ability to work under minimal supervision while appropriately keeping others informed of activities and issues or potential issues.
+ Ability to multi-task.
+ Ability to travel out of town as business needs require.
