The Director of PMO, Engineering provides strategic leadership, project management excellence, and operational efficiency within the Engineering Organization. 

 

This role oversees New Technology & Product Development, portfolio management through the Project Approval Committee (PAC) and Portfolio Management Team (PMT) processes, sustaining engineering (SE), value engineering (VAVE), continuous improvement initiatives, and engineering budget analysis with finance. 

 

Reporting to the VP & CTO, the Director ensures cross-functional collaboration across product management, design, finance, sales, and manufacturing to drive successful product launches. The role also manages PMO operations, engineering metric dashboards using TEP and Tableau, and Lean NPI stage gate processes.
 

Key Responsibilities:

•    Lead New Technology & Product Development projects, ensuring on-time delivery using LeanPD methodologies.
•    Drive engineering strategy development, performance metrics publication, and continuous process improvements.
•    Manage 6-8 global Project Managers, overseeing project execution, risk mitigation, and resource allocation.
•    Align cross-functional resources and investments with business growth through PMT processes.
•    Implement portfolio management tools, project tracking systems, and resource forecasting mechanisms.
•    Collaborate with finance on budget oversight, CAPEX/OPEX management, and cost-effective solutions.
•    Ensure compliance, risk management, and engineering best practices across all projects.
•    Prepare executive reports (MBR, QBR), providing actionable insights and performance reviews.
•    Build and develop a high-performing global PMO team, fostering talent development, succession planning, and inclusion.

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
•    10+ years in multi-national engineering leadership, PMO management, or business transformation.
•    PMP certification preferred; experience in Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, NPI, and design engineering.
•    Strong technical expertise in engineering strategy, operations, project/portfolio management, and product lifecycle.
•    Proven success in driving efficiency, cost management, and business growth through strategic initiatives.
•    Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
•    Experience with risk mitigation, budget oversight, and global team leadership.
•    Proficiency in project management tools, data analysis, and reporting systems (e.g., Tableau).
