We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join our Eastman corporate engineering team. As the process engineering Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of process engineering design and technical support across multiple related teams, with a strong emphasis on strategic contributions and long-term operational planning. Your expertise in process engineering principles, combined with your leadership, management skills and extensive experience in the chemical industry, will be crucial in leading a team of engineers to drive teamwork, innovations, asset optimization and successful project execution. Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction to a team of leaders and a highly skilled team of process engineers.
• Accountable for annual performance and results, often of multiple related teams
• Makes decisions guided by functional objectives and priorities
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of process engineering scope of work, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Requires comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within Process Engineering , Project execution process, and knowledge of other engineering services
• Manages multiple teams, sets organizational priorities, and allocates resources.
• Influences others internally and externally, including senior leaders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, operations, and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
• Manage the execution of process engineering scope of work inhouse and at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to evaluate project viability and propose appropriate engineering solutions.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues or delays, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure timely project delivery.
• Provide technical support and guidance to operations and technology teams addressing process engineering-related issues or challenges that arise.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in process engineering and identify opportunities for innovation and technical process optimization.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development among the engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a safe working environment.
• Active participation in professionals engineering societies and related Industry standards committees such as ASTM, ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA , PIP or others.
• Mentor and develop emerging talent.
• Support the company strategies and drive change as identified by the organization.
• Bachelor's degree in process engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering, with a focus on Chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, practices, codes, and regulations.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of leaders and engineers with excellent leadership and communication, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop lesser experienced team members.
• In-depth understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with software tools and applications, such as ASPEN HYSYS, Pipe-Flo, LIMS, COMPRESS, SolidWorks and other engineering design software, to support Process engineering activities and enhance project efficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards, such as ASTM, ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation of Mechanical systems and equipment.
• Experience managing change with cross functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful development and implementation of new processes.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
