Overview
As consumer preference for digital payments continues to grow, ensuring a seamless and secure consumer experience is top of mind. The Digital Transformation and Optimization (DTO) team is responsible for optimizing and monetizing the value of Mastercard’s Consumer Solutions through a data-driven approach & product and network thinking.
The Optimization Solutions team, part of the DTO organization, focuses on improving digital authorization performance globally through optimizing existing & building new Mastercard solutions.
As a Director in the Optimization Solutions team, you will be responsible for leading authorization performance optimization for top digital merchants around the world. It includes tracking performance, delivering data-driven insights and recommendations, engaging directly with key merchant stakeholders on implementing optimization solutions, and partnering across the organization to drive alignment and ensure action is taken. You will also support the development of new solutions to address gaps, working closely with global product teams and regional leads. An ideal candidate should be passionate about learning new products and solutions, have a strong understanding of the payments landscape, leverage data to recommend actions and drive to a decision, have strong storytelling skills, and comfortably engage with senior management.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct data-driven analysis on current and potential opportunities including economic analysis, strategic "tailwinds" and "headwinds" and broader industry benchmarking
• Leverage data analysis to develop actionable content recommendations based on in-depth understanding of Mastercard products and solutions as well as impact of operational changes
• Present data to Mastercard’s customers (Merchants and Issuers) in a more digestible format by highlighting big impact opportunities and collaborating with them on the implementation of the recommendations that were agreed upon
• Partners with a diverse set of stakeholders across the organization to solicit ideas, influence strategy and generate buy-in to proposed actions, while maintaining an objective position
• Monitor progress on all engagements and partner with Account Management, Product and Customer Delivery teams to ensure timely and accurate implementation
• Monitor top digital merchant and issuer approval rate performance in detail and provide regular reports, create best practices, and serve as an adviser to regional teams in their optimization efforts
All about You
• Proven track record in product management, product development or consulting leading initiatives from strategic planning, financial/business case modeling through tactical execution
• Strong knowledge of digital commerce strategies, best practices and trends related to authorization, authentication, transaction routing, fraud, chargebacks, and AI
• Extensive project management and problem solving skills with a ability to efficiently manage multiple projects with external and internal clients
• Drives a data-driven, agile culture as a role model and influencer within Digital Payments team
• Ability to guide difficult conversations to productive outcomes
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to engage and advance multiple projects at the same time

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
