Director, Project and Program Management
Overview This is a hybrid role - 2 days remote and 3 days in the Malvern, PA office. The Director, Project and Program Management is a member of the IT Leadership Team and plays a critical role in the IT function. They oversee a team of high-performing Project and Program Managers, each of whom is responsible for owning relationships with business stakeholders, driving associated technology projects forward, ensuring our systems’ overall alignment with business strategy, and otherwise supporting stakeholders from a technology standpoint. A fundamental component of this role is establishing and maintaining project and program management standards that ensure quality of work while simultaneously supporting CubeSmart’s agile, dynamic culture. This includes intake and prioritization processes, documentation requirements, delivery/UAT standards, and mechanisms to maintain proper alignment between business and tech. This role requires someone who excels at the intersection of business and technology. They must possess both the refinement to collaborate strategically with Corporate Executives and the aptitude to execute tactically on projects of all sizes. Responsibilities Leads a team of Project and Program Managers responsible for intake, prioritization, execution, documentation, and delivery. Helps define and implement Project and Program Management processes that standardize the way we execute technology initiatives. Forms outstanding relationships with business stakeholders and technology leaders, based on shared values, transparency, and mutual respect. Collaborates with business stakeholders to establish business strategy, align product roadmaps with this business strategy, and execute on delivering against these roadmaps. Provides formal updates to senior leadership on the status of projects and initiatives. Works closely with technical staff at all levels to establish, refine, and deliver against product roadmaps and initiatives. Demonstrates full ownership and accountability of programs and projects, and holds others accountable, as well. As a critical member of the IT Leadership team, helps foster an environment in which teammates across the IT Department feel empowered, engaged, and excited by the opportunity to leverage their skills to drive tangible business value. Like all CubeSmart leaders, willing to “roll up their sleeves” and dive deep into finding solutions when required. Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in technology or business. 10+ years of Director-level experience, leading a Program Management Office (PMO) or equivalent. A proven track record of implementing key project/program management processes that are a “best fit” to an organization's own, unique culture, as well as managing the resulting organizational change. 5+ years of direct people management/leadership experience, including an ability to develop and lead high performers. Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and how to practically leverage this in an agile environment. Demonstrable knowledge of, and experience with, retail point-of-sale (POS), customer-facing digital systems (mobile/web/etc.), and/or other enterprise transactional applications. The savvy to bring together stakeholders with varying - and potentially conflicting - visions and priorities, and to broker acceptable compromises that solve business problems while adhering to both the design spirit and quality benchmarks of our products. A propensity for translating business problems into functional requirements that drive efficiency, profitability, and an outstanding experience for both internal and external Customers. Highly refined verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate technical considerations to a non-technical audience, from line-level teammates to C-Suite. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities; willingness to dive deep to solve problems. The willingness to truly “own” projects, programs, and stakeholder relationships, and to be the “single throat to choke” with respect to the operational impact of our technology initiatives. Additional Preferred Qualifications Professional Project Manager (PMP) Certification Familiarity with a broad range of IT applications, data, and infrastructure, especially web/cloud technologies. Familiarity with Transactional EFT systems and PCI requirements. Familiarity with MarTech stacks and associated communications, analytics, and integrations. Familiarity with corporate financial platforms and basic general ledger accounting principles. Familiarity with HRIS platforms and integrations. Experience working effectively with external vendors and customers, and with onshore, nearshore, and offshore resources. Experience working in an SSAE-16/18 audited environment and possesses an understanding of associated considerations.
