Director, Purchasing

SUMMARY:

The Director of Purchasing will support the selling function and will carry out a variety of tasks and functions in support of the product line. The Director of Purchasing will be responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels, inventory mix, and overall efficiency and profitability of the product line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Review and evaluation of inventories. - Forecast, plan, and provide for product line and customer needs and demands. - Ensure inventory turnover is maximized. - Identify and communicate to management, trading opportunities in the marketplace. - Initiate and conclude purchase transactions while ensuring acceptable return on investment and minimizing the occurrence of quality rejections. - Identify repair candidates in existing inventory and initiate accurate inputs in accordance with customer and technical specifications. - Monitor and ensure the accuracy of existing inventory. - Review and revolve rejects within 30 days. - Review various customer inquiries and provide quality responses. - Become familiar with all customers special and technical requirements. - Establish competitive pricing levels. - Coordinate and communicate with the sales force to secure the sale. - Identify and communicate material availability to the sales force via push lists. - Liaise with the appropriate personnel within the logistics chain to organize and expedite inventory shipments, purchase orders, and repair orders. - All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
