PURPOSE OF JOB: The Director of R&D Software Development will lead a growing distributed team of software engineers in the US and abroad. This role will manage the development of R&D customer-facing software for next-gen and existing solutions with a growing team of development teams located in the US, Mexico, India, and Germany. The Director of Software Development will collaborate with Testing, Product Management, and R&D In-House Diagnostics to implement product requirements.

Passionate about both building and supporting an enterprise platform to support products and maintaining legacy customer-facing applicationsWillingness to go as wide and as deep as needed to drive successful outcomesChange management leader; experience leading teams, particularly long-tenured associates, through organizational growth and scale.Continuous improvement mentality: someone who relishes the challenge to continually improve the service delivery and customer experience.Leading the team through management and mentorshipInterfacing with product owners daily to address operational matters and to understand their business requirementsLead the development for a Customer-Facing platform (C#, Oracle and SQL Server, Azure Cloud, React, and React Native) technical roadmap, resource allocation, and execution timelines.Developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent.Reviewing teams budgetsRecommending technological developments and improvements in efficiencyDeveloping the team to ensure quality end products.Present technology roadmap, progress and compelling presentations to executives and investorsActively lead the lift of critical assets to the cloudAgile champion.Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop product requirements and technology roadmaps.Must have a deep understanding of data architecture, data acquisition, data integration, and data mining, with the ability to challenge technical subject matter experts to think creatively.May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects and other duties as assigned.           EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Advanced degree in Computer Science or related discipline a plus.5+ years of experience successfully engineering and leading end-to-end product development5+ years of experience as a software engineer in organizations with strong software engineering processes, ideally building solutions for the Cloud5+ years of experience leading highly motivated engineering teams in mature organizationsTrack record of successful product development and deployment using modern software engineering, DevOps, Agile, SCRUM and sprint practices, Azure or AWS, and Docker or KubernetesTrack record of being able to attract and retain successful software engineering team members5+ years of experience in using and leading teams that utilize one or more of C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++, or .NETExperience building and integrating with large-scale infrastructure and/or distributed systems integrating third party protocol libraries and APIsFamiliar with building large scale, Azure and hybrid (cloud & on-premise) based applications, preferably with .NET and modern JS frameworks (ex. ReactJS, NodeJS).Hands-on knowledge with various integration and application development patterns, including SOA, RESTful, SOAP, Microservices, Dockers and CI/CD pipelines.Knowledge with various database technologies including OLTP, OLAP, modern analytic frameworks and reporting.Strong knowledge of data structures, programmable logic controls, and algorithmsStrong understanding of distributed, high speed and reliable messaging systems: WCF, Rabbit, MQTT, or Pub/Sub technologies.Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, Cyber-Security best practices, and change management.Prior clinical diagnostics experience or healthcare strongly desired.

Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet.  The employee is frequently required to use a calculator, fax, copy machine, and phone system. The Target Pay Range for this position is $180,730 - $225,940 Annually.
