The Director of Rehabilitation Services provides oversight and program development for the Rehabilitation Department to include: inpatient and outpatient physical therapy, sports therapy, occupational therapy, wound care, cardiac rehabilitation, and pulmonary rehabilitation services. Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, DHH, TJC requirements. Also provides direction and supervision to the rehabilitation case management services.
GENERAL DUTIES
Service Liaison Role:
Serves as liaison between physicians, staff, and hospital leadership.Provides supervision and serves as liaison between rehab, sports medicine, physicians, staff, and hospital leadership.Handles disciplinary issues according to hospital guidelines.Schedules employees and staff in department in accordance with staffing plan and care/service needs to ensure accurate timekeeping (ADP)Provides clinical oversight and assistance to program staff.Monitors staff documentation adhering to state and national guidelines and professional organizations.Demonstrates acceptable leadership skills and sets clear expectations for employees and develops rapport with all program staff.Maintains employee accountability with all hospital policies and procedures.Facilitation and participation in program development and accreditation/re-accreditation:
Maintains open communication with VP of Operations and provides consistent detailed reporting of department operations to ensure program goals are met.Establish goals for all disciplines and assure that all goals are achieved in a timely manner.Identify and execute initiatives to increase access to the Rehabilitation Department services and enhance program development.Develop and implement system of reviewing department charges and ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.Delegates tasks to staff to encourage participation; assures follow-through to completion; empowers staff to recommend patient care solutions.Maintain efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws.Encourages participation form employees in the ongoing delivery of care/services.Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to the rehab programs.Manages all aspects of TJC accreditation for rehab programs for the organization including PI activities, interdisciplinary team coordination and positive interaction with all Rehab clinical services/departments.People:
Provides effective leadership and supervision to the rehab team members.Keeps staff supervision notes throughout the year that reflect positive aspects of performance as well as identified areas and goals for improvement.Assesses and promotes educational development of assigned employees and needs of programs.Conducts annual performance appraisals and competencies (in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager in the inpatient program) according to hospital guidelines and time frames.Finance:
Responsible for oversight and management of department budget, FTEs, expenses etc.Determines implementation of financial management strategies through the continuous evaluation of business processes and the implementation of system improvements.Determines capital needs, evaluates equipment and selects appropriate vendors.Growth:
Responsible for daily utilization management functions for the Rehab programs, interacting with rehab team members, physicians, and staff.Contributes to quality patient care through membership and active participation on department, medical and hospital committees.Establish marketing and outreach initiatives with referring physicians, marketing collateral, and community partnerships to grow the department.Diabetes Center:
Meets regularly with CMO, Endocrinologist, staff, and Senior Leadership. Develop a relationship and network with physicians, pharmaceutical companies, managed care, and hospitals.Directs and provides strategic direction for the Diabetes and Nutrition Education ProgramParticipates in employee interviews and hiring decisions.Assists in the program orientation of new staff and contract personnel. Networks with other community agencies to market agency's services as well as make appropriate referrals.Directs and evaluates a team of health instructors to help carry out educational programs. Creates and evaluates diabetes and nutrition education content for all platforms. Participates in Performance Improvement activities.EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart AssociationRequired: Physical Therapist (PT) - Louisiana Physical Therapy Board OR Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) - Louisiana Board Of Examiners For Speech-Language Pathology And Audiology OR Occupational Therapist (OT)(LSBME) - Louisiana State Board Of Medical Examiners
