Role Overview: The Director of Small Business Operations is responsible for financial management, operations, and administration of small business programming and initiatives, including the Indiana SBDC, assisting the Indiana SBDC State Director in overall operations by working as a liaison with regional staff around the state as part of the Lead Center team. Salary Statement: The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000. A Day in the Life: Operations: + Develop, implement and maintain operational processes for the Indiana SBDC Network including but not limited to onboarding/off-boarding, monthly reporting, annual compliance, strategic planning, and network operation policies and procedures + Manage data integrity and monitor organizational output and performance utilizing the Management Information System. Specific areas of focus include monitoring progress toward achievement of SBA deliverables, IEDC goals, customer service management, Federal data reporting, and other programmatic needs + Oversee monthly analysis and tracking of performance metrics by regional offices for reporting to the State Director and troubleshoot regional questions regarding MIS input and usage in collaboration with Lead Center staff + Oversight for client, host and stakeholder satisfaction. + Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities. + Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the State Director informed of all critical issues. + Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Financial: + Financial management for small business programs and initiatives including monitoring spending and budget adjustments, and compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. + Oversee processing of invoices and monthly financial packets from regional offices for submission to state and federal funders. + Maintenance and review of Program Income Reports for Regional and Statewide offices. Administration: + Assist State Director in completion of annual SBA grant proposal, including narrative and budget + Assist State Director in completion of annual regional office performance and financial reviews + Generation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for funders, stakeholders, and resource partners, including, but not limited to the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and regional hosts, including universities and chambers. These reports include metrics/performance updates; uploads to the federal government on quarterly advising activity, and; tracking delivery of workshops, confirming sessions and attendance + Participate in monthly director calls, reviewing performance data and other special projects to assist in achievement of performance goals Strategy: + Advise the State Director on programming, management, and policy matters. + Serve as the management liaison at select internal committee meetings. + Contribute to the development of the Indiana SBDC strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization. + Assist Regional Directors as they implement the statewide Indiana SBDC strategic plan and transition program operations. What You'll Need for Success: Education: Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, public relations, or other directly related field Preferred: Graduate or professional degree with 5 years’ experience in the business field and/or substantial industry experience Experience/Knowledge: Minimum: + Administrative/business management experience. + Significant computer experience, including MIS administration, using Microsoft Office. Preferred: + Public sector or grants management experience + Financial management expertise – budgets, internal processes, compliance, reporting + Strategic planning, management, and implementation + Project management + Operational experience and knowledge of SBDC program management and administration.
