Director, Software Development - Permanent - New Castle, DE

Proclinical is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead strategic planning, architectural design, and growth initiatives for a software development team. This role focuses on developing innovative solutions that meet user needs and drive product success.

Skills & Requirements:

Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical experience.Strong understanding of complex backend architectures and distributed systems.Proficiency in development stacks (e.g., C#, .NET, MVC, Web API).Experience with relational databases and performance tuning.Familiarity with RESTful services and NoSQL databases.Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture and cloud services (e.g., AWS).Experience in Agile DevOps/CICD models.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Software Development Director will:

Collaborate with directors, engineering managers, lead engineers, product managers, and designers to understand user needs and develop effective technical solutions.Oversee the software engineering function to develop, release, and maintain on-premises and cloud applications.Create a research roadmap for software, including user research, UI/UX design, and AI/data science-enabled solutions.Translate portfolio roadmaps into capabilities and resource plans, identifying and addressing gaps.Design and architect global-reaching software, managing operational and capital budgets.Develop strategies for outsourcing/insourcing and build new web/cloud software development teams.Track progress towards portfolio KPIs and ensure accurate delivery of objectives.Ensure adherence to software development processes and engineering practices.Identify opportunities for improving execution efficiency.Mentor staff to develop delivery-oriented skills.Manage hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of lower-level management.
