Director, Solutions and Inside Sales

Rent’s Director of Solutions & Inside Sales leads and inspires a dual-focused team pivotal in shaping a high-performing sales organization, aligning technical sales with customer needs, and leading a dynamic remote and regionally based inside sales team that meets and exceeds quota targets. By relentlessly pursuing revenue and client growth, cultivating client relationships and retention, ensuring outstanding customer experiences, and optimizing every stage of the sales process, the Director of Technical Sales & Inside Sales delivers unparalleled value to Rent.

Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership and Strategy: 

Develop, implement, and execute sales strategies for both Technical Sales and Inside Sales teams to achieve revenue targets and business goals.

Set and monitor clear performance expectations for team members, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.

Creates, monitors, and manages team-level sales and revenue strategies and successfully executes against these.  

Collaborate with marketing and product teams to support go-to-market strategies and improve lead quality for Inside Sales.

Technical Sales Team Oversight:

Leads the strategy for the technical solution sales team, partnering with senior managers in the organization to guide the function in solution development, technical presentations, and customer demos.

Ensure technical sales support is aligned with product capabilities and customer needs, offering in-depth technical expertise during and after the sales cycle.

Inside Sales Team Management:

Lead the Inside Sales Executives, providing guidance on inbound and outbound sales strategies to maximize conversion rates and quota attainment.

Develop a robust call strategy focused on high-touch, high-volume outreach, while ensuring quality in customer interactions.

Implement and monitor pipeline management processes for efficient lead qualification, nurturing, and close rate improvement.

Support Regional Inside Sales in territory planning and account prioritization to maximize revenue potential within regional markets.

Customer and Partner Engagement:

Act as a senior point of contact for key customer accounts, engaging in strategic conversations and managing escalations as needed.

Facilitate technical sales support for complex customer solutions, working with the product team to address specific needs or feature requests. 

Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure customer success and satisfaction, supporting both sales and post-sales experiences.

Process Improvement and Optimization:

Evaluate and refine sales processes across both teams, including lead acquisition, qualification, engagement, and handoff to post-sales teams.

Collaborate with operations to ensure seamless CRM utilization, accurate data reporting, and pipeline visibility.

Drive automation and technology adoption to improve efficiencies within the technical sales and inside sales workflows.

Implement metrics for tracking sales productivity, conversion rates, and customer engagement to identify improvement areas.

Planning and Reporting:

Develop quarterly and annual sales plans for Technical Sales and Inside Sales, outlining key initiatives, quota targets, and resource requirements.

Prepare and present regular reports on sales activities, team performance, revenue outcomes, and process enhancements to executive leadership.

Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions on sales tactics, hiring needs, and process changes to optimize team performance.

Minimum Skills & Experience:

3+ years of sales experience in solution sales, sales engineering or technical sales

3+ years of sales experience in inside sales  

A minimum of 5+ years in a sales leadership position

Sales engineering leadership experience, preferably in a high-growth environment.

Inside Sales leadership experience, specifically in B2B sales, digital marketing or SaaS solutions, with a track record of exceeding revenue targets and driving growth.

Must be able to travel up to 50%

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
