Job Title: Director, Sourcing Optimization
Location: Richmond, VA
What we’re looking for:
We are seeking an individual to lead our Case & Anthony Sourcing Optimization to drive the improvement of strategic sourcing of Direct and Indirect categories to reduce overall cost to the organization. This is a highly visible role touching approximately $300 Million in spend across a multitude of categories such as refrigeration related products, fabrications, electronics, metals, transportation, etc. This is an exciting leadership role with executive visibility, global scope, and supporting business units in developing and executing sourcing strategies in a fast-paced organization.
The Director, Case-Anthony Sourcing Optimization will be tasked with driving the comprehensive strategy for these categories. Elements of this strategy include supplier management and development and risk mitigation, with a focus on leveraging these relations to bring the highest value for spend to these categories purchased by Case and Anthony, delivering direct benefits to the bottom line. This role will work in close collaboration with the Director, Global Sourcing to drive global sourcing efforts such as supply base optimization, make, or buy decisions, new product development, and global and regional expansion.
Reporting to the VP of Operations with a dotted line to the Managing Director, this position will work closely with finance and interact with Dover Corporate Sourcing, engineering, procurement, other DFR locations, and suppliers. This is an exciting opportunity for a successful supply chain leader in a highly visible leadership position with a career path of continued strategic contributions and advancement.
What you’ll be responsible for in this role:
Serves our customers (Operations, Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Sales, and End Customers) and ensures the optimization of suppliers and cost: Manage and optimize all contracts for key suppliers. Develop commodity strategies based on DFR volumes and Dover volumes, Identify areas of risk within supply chain and collaborate on appropriate mitigation measures. Maintain knowledge of market industry trends within area of expertise and communicate potential impact on business. Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, track market conditions, price trends, and futures markets. Monitor supplier market characteristics regularly; identifies opportunities resulting from market shifts and takes advantage of such shifts. Support Sales organization with critical data points to support end-customer pricing strategies Work with all functions and users to ensure internal customer needs are met Manage cost and assets (cost, productivity, inventory) Implement sourcing design changes to reduce cost. Operate daily to meet cost reduction objectives for customer supply Works closely with the Director, Global Sourcing and Operations team to maximize value across the supply chain and drive a culture of continual improvement.
What are the basic qualifications?
BS Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related discipline. 10+ years progressive experience working in engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain roles with large manufacturing corporations.
What are the preferred qualifications?
15+ years working in engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain roles with large manufacturing corporations MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain Management
To be a great fit for the role:
Experience leading key supplier engagements, negotiating contracts, facilitating quarterly business reviews, and driving sourcing processes required. High degree of proficiency in developing supplier relationships and creating multiyear engagement roadmaps. Develop and drive large multi-site programs utilizing project management skills and tools, managing resources, and achieving targeted results. Ability to lead supplier research efforts, identify suppliers for market baskets and evaluate supplier capabilities. Ability to work independently, seek guidance when required and drive projects in a matrix environment. Have an entrepreneur mindset with strong organizational skills, ability to implement a strategic plan Strong bias for action, and continuous improvement understanding Well-developed interpersonal skills, and data management skills. Technical expertise identifying, qualifying, and leveraging suppliers across the business is key for the role
Travel
Typically travels 20% of the time, primarily domestically. (May travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time for supplier site visit and meetings - e.g., project updates, business reviews, and audits)
