DIRECTOR, SPECIALTY DISTRIBUTION LEAD
SUMMARY:
The Director, Specialty Distribution Lead will play a critical role in the growth of Ionis and its transformation into a fully integrated biotechnology organization, by building capabilities for access through the US Commercial Distribution ecosystem for Ionis’ innovative products. This individual will be responsible for leading development and implementation of the distribution strategy for access to Ionis’ launch products. This position will report to the Executive Director, Trade and Distribution and be located at our corporate headquarters in Carlsbad California, Boston office location, or remote.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate will:
Lead the contracting, business rules development, and operating model implementation for launch asset Donidalorsen Oversee the day-to-day performance of the Donidalorsen Specialty Pharmacy Operating Model. Partner with Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, IT and vendor partners to develop a full suite of data analytics that will ensure relevant and timely data is captured and reported to support the various Ionis field functions and executive leadership teams Assist in the creation of HCP, Patient and Payer marketing resources to support patient access to therapy. Develop and manage Distribution budget in line with the financial and strategic goals through efficient management of vendor partners and contractors Collaborate closely with Ionis Patient Support Services team to ensure a best in class operating model is implemented to support access to Ionis products Collaborate with HCP and Patient Brand Marketing teams as required to ensure an alignment in program deliverables. Assist in the education and training of relevant teams related to US Commercial Distribution and the Specialty Pharmacy and Distribution channel. Ensure customer, market place changes, and competitor insights drive updates to strategy Represent US Market Access in key brand activities including strategic planning, budget planning, launch readiness, training, launch execution, and performance management Be a trusted market and distribution access point person to the various field teams—providing necessary support to maximize their productivity in a compliant manner. Implement and manage vendor contracts to agreed-upon service levels, budgets, and timelines Assist as assigned in projects, programs, or shifts in distribution strategy. Clearly communicate goals, progress, risks, and mitigation plans for critical activities impacting launch to leadership during quarterly business reviews Represent Ionis at industry sponsored meetings as assignedREQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree with 15 + years experience required, ideally in health sciences or business/marketing; or 12+ years experience with an MBA or other advanced degree preferred Bio/pharmaceutical experience of at least 5 years with previous experience in US commercial specialty distribution and specialty pharmacy program management of at least 3 years preferred New product launch experience in the US required, preference for specialty drug launch Experience with both Pharmacy and Medical Benefit products, with knowledge of rare disease, orphan, or ultra-orphan product experience highly desirable Strong leadership skills and ability to partner / effectively collaborate across functions to gain alignment, hold external partners accountable, and improve business performance Demonstrated ability and proven history of driving projects and initiatives to completion Highly organized and detail oriented, with strong project management and presentation and writing skills, proactive communications
