About the Job Director, Technology - Store Commerce & Store/Distribution Center Infrastructure Job Summary We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Director, Store Commerce & Store/DC Infrastructure within our Store, Services and Supply Chain department in Technology. The leader will lead the development and execution of the strategic technology roadmap for Store Commerce (POS, Payment, etc) including any supporting infrastructure, across our stores chain (~ 1700 stores) and Distribution Centers network. This leader will work closely with cross-functional teams including Store Operations and other teams (Digital, Marketing, Infrastructure etc) to support the best cross-channel/omni experience for our pet parents and store associates, by developing and implementing technology strategies that elevate our brand presence and improve the efficiency of store operations. Major Responsibilities: Partners with IT & Store Ops Leadership to define and create strategic roadmaps for Store Commerce and Stores/DC infrastructure that serves as the foundational enabler of PetSmart’s business processes. Presents multi-year plans to senior IT and business leadership. Forecasts and manages both capital and operational investments to deliver new, upgrade existing, and maintain/operate all the technologies and systems under their responsibility. Monitors and evaluates new technology capabilities and Store Commerce/POS trends, including changes in business needs, to develop IT strategies, architectures and multi-year roadmaps that drive both innovation and efficiencies within PetSmart’s Stores and DC’s. Builds and presents project business cases including detailed scope, timelines, and financials plans for key projects. Ensures new applications systems and infrastructure components adhere to defined architecture requirements and standards and are in compliance with internal and external security requirements. Responsible for reliability and uptime of all IT systems in scope, including POS, Payments and AMS (Advanced Marketing Systems). Implement technology (dashboards, KPIs etc.) for proactive monitoring, alerting and tracking, including POS trends analysis. Responsible for the management/tracking of all vendors and contracts related to any store/DC technology they support. Collaborates with vendors to ensure the appropriate support model and cost is applied to all equipment and services. Responsible for successful delivery (scope, time, budget, quality) of key projects and lifecycle management upgrades, including assigning resources and ensuring high quality systems are delivered in accordance with project timelines and architectural standards. Oversee design, deployment, and support of technical infrastructure systems and services including store and DC networks (circuits/broadband, SD-WAN, switching, wireless, phones, & security), server & virtualization, and end user devices (PC/VDI, hand-held scanners/smart devices, tablets, and printers), and other technologies that enable PetSmart’s stores, distribution centers, and corporate strategies. Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of Store Commerce and Store/DC specialists and support staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, accountability and innovation. # Direct Reports 3+ direct reports and a team of ~ 20-25 associates total Certificates / Licenses / Tech Skills Knowledge of industry standards and framework (ITIL, ISO, COBIT) a plus PMP preferred Education requires knowledge normally obtained through a Bachelor's Degree BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typical Experience Required 10+ years 10+ years leading in a Sr Manager or Director role within a retail technology organization. Experience Area of Expertise Store Commerce (POS, Promotion/Loyalty) and Payment systems Design, implementation, and management of enterprise and retail infrastructure and system technologies Experience leading the implementation of enterprise technologies including server hardware & OS's, database, network, storage, and virtualization tools for large organizations. Proven track record of successfully creating, implementing, and improving IT operational controls Experience in supporting regulatory mandates including PCI and SOX Extensive background in implementing enterprise system monitoring and alerting Experience developing and leading mid-size technical teams across various job functions (Systems Analysts, System/Network Engineers, POS Specialists, Application Analysts, Project Managers etc) Systems Used Regularly: Experience with NCR POS (or other POS) solutions highly desirable. Store & DC Infrastructure technologies (Hardware, Mobile devices, Tele Communications, Networks, WIFI, Virtualization etc) Preferred Qualifications (eg: communication skills, key competencies, other experiences, etc) Excellent Project/Program management. Proven record of successful delivery of large, complex technology initiatives to support retail operations Effective communication and interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage with customers, vendors, partners, and business managers across various levels of the organization Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Solid background in systems engineering and technology infrastructure Travel Requirements?
