**About the Role**
Carrier is looking for a Director passionate about creating a sustainable future, with demonstrated superior knowledge in driving strategy and execution related to collaborative Research and Development with Government entities. Carrier is uniquely positioned to mature building technologies and deliver real world impact in terms of efficiency, quality, cost and serviceability. Our collaborative research efforts will support and accelerate this goal. The role has flexibility to be based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Washington, DC, or Syracuse, NY. The role reports to the Director of Innovation Hub Americas.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Drive the growth of government funded research and development(R&D) collaborations at Carrier.
+ Lead marketing and acquisition of publicly funded R&D initiatives.
+ Lead a small team in support of R&D proposal development and management of awarded contracts.
+ Position Carrier government agencies as a preferred building energy and resilience partner for collaborative R&D.
+ Perform quantitative opportunity identification and development of strategic options in-line with core capabilities and business goals.
+ Collaborate with department leaders to co-create and implement a comprehensive strategy for proposal research, development, tracking, and reporting processes that align with organizational goals.
+ Develop and execute strategic grant capture plans.
+ Manage opportunity from pursuit decision through program start-up.
+ Manage the workflow of proposals and reporting as well as the Carrier Research Center coordination and compliance team.
+ Maintain a robust pipeline of grant opportunities through proactive research and networking.
+ Lead pursuit teams to develop winning solutions aligned with RFP requirements.
+ In partnership with the engineering organization, build project teams with top technical talent, to include members of the central engineering organization and business units, by coordinating with technical and business leaders, fellows, technology architects, and external subject matter experts.
+ Mentor proposal core team on win strategy and solution.
+ Facilitate submissions through government portals, address responses, and negotiate contracts.
+ Coordinate, collaborate and negotiate with operations, IT, pricing, and other internal stakeholders to drive compliant solution.
+ Track and supervise proposal budgets throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and identifying risks or opportunities.
+ Monitor grant post-award management to verify obligations are met and reimbursements processed.
+ Conduct after action reviews for all business opportunities, lessons learned, and identify necessary adjustments to techniques, strategy, and actions.
+ Develop and implement processes for supervising program data and outcomes, ensuring the availability of accurate and timely reports.
+ Administer the terms of the contract and coordinate with internal departments as required for compliance, follow up on outstanding requests from various people within the organization; schedule and attend a variety of conference calls to discuss and resolve contract issues.
+ Up to 30% travel
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in establishing research partnerships with academic and research institutions.
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in obtaining federal R&D funding at a large corporation
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Master’s degree in engineering
+ Business knowledge, including drafting contracts with potential partners and government, drive investment decisions, establishing collaborations and oversee work with external partners.
+ Strong network of relationships at Department of Energy R&D funding entities
+ Experience with HVAC&R systems and laboratory and/or modeling environments
+ Systems engineering and system integration experience.
+ Experience with managing research project portfolios and project management.
+ Team-oriented, quality and respect for people.
+ Ability to lead multi-cultural, multidisciplinary, geographically distributed technology development teams.
+ Managing technical processes including IP in leading and creating technical teams. technologies, requirements and KPI definition
+ Experience with Carrier Corporation
+ Well versed in federal government contracting requirements

**Pay Range:**
$161,331 - $282,719 Annually
