About the Role
The Director of the Student Employment Office is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, management, and oversight of the University’s student employment and federal work-study programs. This position plays a critical role in aligning student employment opportunities with the institution’s mission, ensuring student work experiences are meaningful, compliant, and contribute to their professional development. The Director will oversee the University’s adherence to Title IV regulations, federal and state labor laws, and internal policies while managing and optimizing financial resources associated with student employment programs.
The Director leads a dedicated team, including two Associate Directors and their staff, to enhance employment opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The role requires strategic vision, financial acumen, compliance expertise, and strong leadership skills to elevate student employment initiatives across the University.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve student employment systems, workflows, and outcomes, ensuring operational effectiveness and alignment with institutional goals. Oversee University compliance with Title IV regulations, federal and state labor laws, and federal work-study policies, mitigating risks and ensuring best practices. Oversight of funds that are distributed across all departments throughout the institution, embodying over 13,000 student employees Lead and mentor a collaborative team, empowering staff to provide excellent support and training to students, supervisors, and payroll coordinators. Implement, refine, and optimize student employment systems (e.g., JobX, SAP) to enhance user experience, address technical challenges, and improve processes. Foster campus-wide collaboration by engaging with supervisors, payroll coordinators, and a student advisory board to continuously enhance the student employment experience. Provide critical financial reporting, manage Job Location and Development (JLD) funds strategically, and support the University’s campus-based aid applications.
