About the position:

A growing number of companies are moving to adopt sustainability strategies to future-proof their businesses, spawning the emergence of new technologies and value-chain partnerships. Financing for the deployment of these new technologies and partnership models requires innovative solutions straddling the traditional capital stack.

To address this challenge, ING’s Sustainable Finance team provides tailored advisory and financing solutions in support of clients’ sustainability projects and goals. With regional hubs in Amsterdam, Singapore and New York, and local presence in selected countries, we are one of the fastest growing teams within ING.

We are seeking to recruit a commercial, proactive self-starter at the Director level to join the New York based team. This role requires an individual who has areas of unique expertise in sustainable technologies and partnership models (preferably in the energy sector), familiarity with various types of financing instruments and sustainable finance structures, strong communication and commercial skills, ability to originate, structure, and execute sustainability-related advisory and financing mandates, and the ambition to become a leading sustainable finance partner for clients in the Americas region.

It is fundamental to be able to manage a portfolio of clients representing various sectors and profiles. You will work closely with local Sustainable Finance colleagues, the regional front office sector coverage and product specialist teams, and with the wider ING’s network around the world. You will also be expected to represent the region in internal global projects and to demonstrate thought leadership on behalf of ING at external events.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to work on marketing preparation, pitching and sustainable deal execution. You are expected to be product agnostic and able to navigate between bonds, loans, working capital solutions and financing/ESG advisory discussions.Guide and supervise more junior members of the team in the preparation of client presentations and credit documentation review.Act as sustainability expert for agreed upon sectors and technology verticals for which you will act as liaison between internal and external stakeholders ensuring up to date information on relevant developments.Help originate and manage relations with clients, experts, advisors and industry bodiesSupport and coordinate internal teach in sessions and communication tools, such as contributing to regional and global newsletters, research pieces and organizing eventsBe an active advocate in external conferences, roundtables and associationsSupervise the proper tracking and reporting of sustainable finance transactionsContinue expanding on and refreshing sustainable finance content for identification of new clients and advisory opportunitiesSupport the implementation of ING’s global sustainability strategy within the Americas regionHave sustainability at heart and be an ambassador for ING’s sustainable finance activities

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications / Education:

You have a BA or BS or a post-graduate degree (an engineering-related degree is considered a plus)Your academic record demonstrates a high degree of verbal and analytical competence

Experience / Knowledge:

You have a passion for sustainabilityYou have 10+ years of work experience (preferably a mix of finance and technical or sustainability-related roles with exposure to sustainable companies and technologies)You have a good understanding of commercial and investment banking productsYou are fluent in English (verbal and written)You are proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Salary Range $250,000 -$300,000
