Responsibilities What You'll Do V2X is seeking an experience Platform Operations leader to oversee and manage our team of IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations professionals, and ensure the security, resilience, and performance of V2X’s information systems across the globe. The Director Systems Administration and Operations oversees all aspects of system operations, monitoring, and maintenance. This leader manages datacenter, messaging, directory services, cloud, and networking professionals to meet V2X’s expanding business requirements. The director provides day-to-day supervision and leadership to help team members accomplish goals while exceeding business expectations for secure reliable platform services. This role helps application, data, and other teams provide rock solid transport and hybrid services, collaborates with business partners to analyze the ROI of initiatives, and establishes and maintains relationships within IT and across the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong command of enterprise technologies, experience as a director or manager, is eager to learn, and ready to take ownership of enterprise infrastructure technologies. Key Responsibilities: Manages the day-to-day operations of server infrastructure by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Plans and leads projects to enable new technologies or capabilities to support operational requirements, improve effectiveness, and/or enhance IT security Leads and overseas data center, network, and cloud migration activities Plans and leads infrastructure projects to reduce and mitigate technical debt, deploy new and replacement technologies, and support growth. Leads the IT Administration and Operations team including hiring, training, coaching and evaluating team members. Provides work direction to technical staff and contract staff. Determines appropriate coverage for all hours of operation and facilitates effective responsiveness and incident handling procedures. Develops and maintains operational knowledge, implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability and path to production. Trains technical staff on technical, functional, and administration topics to improve competencies and overall depth of knowledge/capability. Performs troubleshooting as required. Leads problem-solving efforts often involving support personnel, engineers, and outside vendors or organizations as needed. Leads root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and lessons learned actions. Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host operating systems, disk arrays, networking equipment, backup libraries and other components, including providing high levels of confidence and trust by maintaining very low attack surfaces, vulnerabilities, or deficiencies in the implementation of security controls. Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host resources and environments and provides real-time monitoring and proactive problem identification/response. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host systems and host-based applications Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology Develops and contributes to new and existing technology and business road maps Provides innovation and process improvement recommendations and oversees implementation of emerging technologies and processes. Interfaces with, and contributes to overall success of other IT teams, including Engineering, Service Desk Operations, Business Applications, Cybersecurity, and International Operations Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field. Experience: Five (5) to Ten (10) years' of experience operating enterprise infrastructure technologies. Certifications/Licenses: ITIL certification / training beneficial Experience managing, consolidating, and migrating Data centers and cloud-based IaaS/PaaS Experience as a director or senior team leader to highly technical professionals .Experience managing operational reviews and engagements (briefings, after actions reviews, etc.) a plus. Experience overseeing and executing an operating budget including vendor/supplier management, software asset maintenance, and staff performance management. Experience as a director or team leader Other Requirements: Travel up to 30%. U.S. citizenship required Ability to obtain Secret Clearance Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities Supervises a team of 5-10 system administrators/engineers. Actively participates in the planning, execution, and management of hardware, software, labor, and professional services budgets. Skills and Technology Used Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving: Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host resources and environments and provides real-time monitoring and proactive problem identification/response. Business/ Systems and Operations Acumen: Strong background providing and maintaining Operational KPI’s. Experience managing operational reviews and engagements (briefings, after actions reviews, etc.) a plus. Familiar and knowledgeable managing and maintaining Zero-Trust technologies and components Business Partner/Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, influence, planning, organizing, and time management skills are required. Collaboration and Teamwork/Leadership Influence: Interfaces with, and contributes to overall success of other IT teams, including Engineering, Service Desk Operations, Business Applications, Cybersecurity, and International Operations Demonstrated expertise in three or more of the following technologies: Hybrid Cloud Platforms (SaaS/PaaS) and Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V) SAN & Cloud/Serverless Storage Backup systems (CommVault, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery) Observability, AI Ops, or other advanced Availability monitoring and response SDWAN deployment / optimization / acceleration Identity and Access Management Governance and Automation Solutions (Sailpoint, Okta, Ping, etc.) Defender for Cloud or other Cloud/Hybrid cyber protection or cloud threat detection and response solution Purview, Varonis, or other similar Data Loss Prevention / Data management solution Servicenow Software: Microsoft Office 365 Suite Technology: Additional equipment includes the use of environmental and safety monitoring equipment, digital camera, etc. Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The following salary range is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company. USD $ 155,000-220,000 Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
