Smurfit WestRock is looking for a dynamic, results-driven talent management Leader who can deeply understand and integrate the business strategy, talent strategy and workforce dynamics to enable Smurfit WestRock’s businesses to execute their priorities.

This exciting career opportunity will utilize the successful candidate’s talent management and development experiences when partnering with HRBPs, Business Leaders and other COEs to creatively develop a variety of innovative solutions for Smurfit WestRock. 

The incumbent will work with the HRVP for their business and in close partnership with the Talent Management VP in embedding enterprise talent strategies deep within the business, while also identifying any unique needs, challenges and opportunities that may exist for that business.   Success will be measured by the adoption of talent processes and outcomes related to succession, engagement and development.  

Key Responsibilities:

Work with their respective business leaders, HR team and Talent Management (TM) and COEs to identify and deploy an effective rhythm/cadence to embedding and executing group & regional talent processes (e.g., performance management, talent reviews and action plans, succession planning, diversity strategies, engagement action plans, participation in learning & development solutions and change readiness plans) for salaried and hourly populations.Consult and collaborate with COEs in identifying and addressing business-specific needs and challenges that may not be addressed by group & regional solutions.Drive accountability with their respective leadership team for executing talent processes in a high quality, consistent and continuous manner, and in doing so, help establish a more talent-centric culture with strong talent developers among its leaders.Effectively utilize data (e.g., retention, retirement, performance, DEIB) to articulate the state of the talent within the business/function to plan and prioritize initiatives and measure progress and success toward goals.  Work closely with high-potential and early-career talent to provide a more objective lens on strengths and development areas, providing coaching Partner with COE and other Talent Leaders to enable a dynamic and open talent marketplace, serving as a talent broker and a point of contact for direct conversations with internal talent; creatively enable proactive connections between business leaders and external talent to form pipelines of talent from the outside.Participate in design and delivery of learning content (e.g., webinars, courses) for talent processes and solutions.Support the HRVP in organizational design and cultural shifts as business evolve to execute their priorities.Serve as a conduit between the business and COEs to ensure needs of and feedback from the businesses are elevated.Apply a lens that integrates the various talent solutions in a holistic, meaningful and digestible portfolio of solutions that connects to the needs of the business.Integrate and drive talent strategy within the business with a diversity lens.

Key Requirements:

Bachelors or Master’s level degree in a relevant field.10+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in talent management.HR business partner experience is desired. Experience assessing leadership and professional development needs and designing solutions to meet those needs.Experience coaching and mentoring others.Exceptional presentation skills in various settings.Proven management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities Excellent analytical and systems thinking skills.An entrepreneurial spirit, deep curiosity, and strong critical thinking skills.Excellent consultation, business partnering, and project management skills.Global industry experience is beneficial (corrugated, food service, folding carton packaging, manufacturing) but not required.Naturally collaborative with others, having worked in a matrixed organization to achieve organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems. Ability to think and plan strategically and proactively and follow through actionable plan.
