Position Overview:
The Director of Technical Accounting will lead the company's technical accounting function, providing expertise on complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting key business decisions. This role will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Accounting Leadership: Lead the assessment, adoption, and application of new and existing accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805). Serve as the primary technical accounting resource for the organization. Compliance and Policy Development: Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Monitor and communicate regulatory changes affecting financial reporting. Complex Transaction Support: Provide accounting guidance on M&A transactions, divestitures, joint ventures, and equity transactions. Analyze and document accounting implications for strategic initiatives. Financial Reporting: Support the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures. Ensure compliance with SEC reporting, including 10-K and 10-Q filings. Audit and Internal Controls: Act as a liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters. Oversee the implementation of effective internal controls related to technical accounting. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Investor Relations, and Operational teams to align accounting practices with business objectives. Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff on technical topics. Strategic Leadership: Lead a team of technical accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Drive innovation in technical accounting processes and tools.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA required; advanced degree preferred). 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a technical accounting or advisory role. Expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and accounting standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience managing teams and working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Background in Big 4 public accounting and/or large corporate environment preferred.IV. Physical Requirements
