Are you in? **Primary Purpose** Responsible for the governance and oversight of Exelon’s R&D (Research and Development) program, Technology Partnerships and Portfolio, and Technology Intelligence & Strategy. Acts as Exelon’s chief technology director and interface with third parties such as the U.S. Department of Energy, National Labs, Universities, research organizations such as Electric Power Research Institute, and other key collaborative vendor partners. Creates and maintains strategic relationships with key technology vendors, universities, start-ups, and venture capitalists to support Exelon’s research and development program. Within Exelon, interfaces regularly with senior leadership (CEOs, COOs, VPs, Key Management), Utility Functional Area Managers across the enterprise to develop and execute a technology strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and goals. Leads the cross-company Research and Development Peer Group including the development and oversight of the collaborative research and development portfolio. Recommends research and development funding level and budget at each utility operating company based on technology gap assessments and business plan needs. Influences the direction of industry-wide collaborative research funding and project scope to maximize benefits to Exelon. Leads technology standardization efforts with the Utility Operating Companies, including technology standardization associated with supply sourcing efforts. Identifies disruptive technologies that could have significant impact on the business and works to develop strategies and evaluate / demonstrate technologies. **Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three or more days per week.** **Primary Duties** + Serve as the Exelon Utility Operating Company’s chief technology director and interface with third parties including the U.S. Department of Energy, National Labs, Universities, research organizations such as Electric Power Research Institute, and key collaborative vendor partners to influence the direction of industry-wide collaborative research, funding, and project scope to maximize benefits to Exelon. (20%) + Responsible for the governance and oversight of the Exelon’s Research and Development and Technology Partnerships and Portfolio, and Technology Intelligence and Strategy, and associated critical performance elements. Oversees the cross-company Research and Development Peer Group including the development and oversight of the collaborative research and development portfolio and recommends utility operating company funding level for the portfolio.(35%) + Interface with senior leadership across the enterprise to develop and execute technology strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and goals. This includes regular interaction with utility CEO’s, COO’s, VP’s and Key Managers and Corporate leadership including VP’s and Key Managers from Supply, IT, Legal, Security, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development. (15%) + Lead special initiatives sponsored by senior Exelon leadership associated with key collaborative research, technology development, demonstration, or equipment standardization. (10%) + Identification of disruptive technologies that could have significant impact on the business and working with the Exelon Utility Operating companies to develop strategies and evaluate and demonstrate technologies through collaborative or independent research efforts that can exploit the use of or reduce the risk from new technology developments. (20%) **Job Scope** To provide leadership, technology strategy development, guidance, and technical expertise across the enterprise in support of utility operating company goals and objectives. Interface with all levels of utility management and position Exelon’s Operating Companies as an industry leader in technology development and implementation.
