Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. The CO+I CTO Office is looking for a Director, U.S. Transmission Technologies. The Director, Transmission Technologies, North Americas will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to the organization on emerging technology readiness and innovative solutions in the United States. This individual will be expected to be knowledgeable in developing transmission strategies for the United States market in line with Microsoft’s business objectives and goals. They will also be expected to collaborate with industry and other partners as needed to develop innovative solutions.

+ This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
+ Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
+ This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

**Responsibilities**
+ The Director, Transmission Technologies, North Americas will:
+ maintain deep expertise in industry trends and participate in the development of new knowledge and insights.
+ develop and share insights on innovative solutions for supporting energy infrastructure solutions.
+ develop a strategic vision for driving innovation and accelerating adoption of new technologies.
+ understand supply chains, logistics, and risk mitigation for transmission technology solutions in the United States
+ be well connected across infrastructure and transmission technology companies and energy industry.
+ Develop a technical roadmap for emerging technologies for the United States, including understanding technology readiness for deployment and resulting priorities as well as the necessary next steps for implementing key portions of the roadmap’s strategy.
+ Identify opportunities and gaps in the deployment of technologies, including developing pathways to realize opportunities and address gaps.
+ Act as a subject matter expert in orchestrating and integrating efforts for the development and implementation of emerging technologies.
+ Provide expertise to help teams partner with others to collect technology performance requirements and metrics.
+ Educate and advocate for technologies to internal partners.

**Qualifications**
**Required/Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering and/ or technical program management
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
+ 6+ years' experience in transmission technologies (including transmission planning and/or projects) in North American markets
**Other Requirements:**
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ BS or BA degree AND 10+ years' experience in engineering or product/technical program management, OR equivalent experience
+ Proven track record in collaborating across teams with key actors in the energy and technology sectors
+ Broad understanding of the transmission landscape in APAC and/or EMEA including emerging technologies, trends, and potential areas of focus
+ Knowledgeable in data center infrastructure including transmission requirements and broad understanding of industry needs
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
