Job Description

Position Purpose

Develop, implement, and manage successful transportation, supply chain and technology strategies designed to improve customer experience, reduce costs and optimize process flows. Implement a “World Class” transportation business plan which dramatically improves customer delivery capabilities at the lowest possible cost.

Primary objective will be to lead and manage a team that sources transportation capacity across all modes, domestic and international, and delivers on-time to our customers at the lowest possible cost. Lead people and develop processes to ensure high productivity and maximum value creation in transportation operations while providing excellent service to both internal and external customers. Constantly challenge established practices to improve processes as the business climate changes and the operation evolves to meet / exceed requirements. Lend strategic insights for special projects, such as implementing company-wide productivity and service initiatives. Play a lead role in the attainment of the strategic and financial objectives of the company relying on a history of significant and verifiable budget experience. Demonstrate the ability to mentor and develop personnel by preparing direct and indirect reports to move on to future career opportunities within the organization.

Major/Key Accountabilities

This position will provide strategic direction and support to fully service our customers, establish and maintain high standards of performance and develop a productive work environment with clear and precise guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Identify and implement industry best practices to support organizational direction

Provide strategic direction for and oversight of the 3rd party dedicated fleet operations achieving key objectives on service performance, trailer asset utilization and cost efficiencies

Drive transportation integrated solutions with customers to deliver shared transport benefits

Approve and recommend transport procurement cost changes, leading teams through the procurement process – benchmarking and comparing alternatives

Drive Supply Chain related process improvements, and support supply chain initiatives to meet business goals

Co-lead Sustainability Initiatives to reach 2030 targets

Serve as a “Thought Leader” in Supply Chain and Transportation Technologies

Work on high profile projects with executive visibility and engagement

Direct IT planning for systems to best manage transportation procurement, tender process and load and asset tracking

Provide wise and sound decisions for customer and employee enhancement, effectively establish objectives and performance standards regarding evaluations, strengths & weaknesses, attendance, conduct, and technological skills and will drive change and encourage growth to achieve goals

Collaborate with other departments both internally and externally to drive change and continuous improvement throughout the supply chain

Perform related duties as assigned which may not be listed above but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level associated with the position

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years supply chain, transportation and/or logistics management experience

Minimum 7 years leading high performance teams operating in high volume, fast paced environment

Team building, transportation procurement experience, linehaul and dedicated contract negotiations experience and proven analytical experience

Desirable Qualifications:

Managing managers, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, Six Sigma / Lean experience

Experience
