Your role and responsibilitiesAs Director, US Government Relations & Public Affairs, Electrification, you will develop and implement Government Relations & Public Affairs (GRPA) strategies to promote the interests of ABB Electrification, working closely with business and Group GRPA colleagues. Communicate business views to federal and state policymakers, engage with the broader policymaking community, and communicate impacts of policy and government actions to internal stakeholders. This position requires a leader with superior communication skills, policy expertise, executive presence, business knowledge, and collaborative attitude. This is a hybrid position. This role is contributing to the Electrification business area in The United States. You will be mainly accountable for:•\tProviding advice and counsel to internal stakeholders about policy, regulatory, and political developments that may impact its businesses, markets, and/or customers•\tTogether with ABB Group GRPA, establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in U.S. Congress, Executive agencies, trade and industry associations, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations, external consultants, Washington offices of peer companies, and more. •\tServe as representative, educator, and lobbyist on policies of importance to the Electrification business at federal, state, and local governments, as well as trade associations and NGOs, in collaboration with ABB Group GRPA. •\tDevelops and executes federal legislative, regulatory, and executive advocacy strategies to advance and defend ABB’s market position and priorities. •\tActively monitors, investigates, researches, and analyzes policy developments, regulatory actions, and political environment at the federal, state, and local government levels. •\tLeads position development and submission of official comments on regulatory matters and public comment opportunities related to the Electrification business.•\tCommunicates government activities through regular written, verbal, and virtual updates to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications for the roleBachelors Degree required 12 years of government-related experience and business/advocacy experience with energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, international trade or technology sector.Advanced degree such as JD, MBA, or Masters in relevant field preferred.3-5+ years of experience on Capitol Hill and/or federal executive agency preferred.3-5+ years of experience lobbying with corporation, trade association or outside policy consulting organization preferred.Ability to work well with all levels of government, trade associations and public interest groups preferred.Extensive knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes preferred.Experience in government compliance preferred.Experience in coalition lobbying preferred.Ability to travel 10% as neededCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
