Your role and responsibilitiesDevelop and implement Government Relations & Public Affairs (GRPA) strategies to promote the interests of ABB’s electric motors and drives businesses, working closely with business and Group GRPA colleagues. Communicate business views to federal and state policymakers, engage with the broader policymaking community, and communicate impacts of policy and government actions to internal stakeholders. The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid You will be mainly accountable for:•\tEnhancing the ABB brand in the policymaking community as a technology leader accelerating a more productive and resource efficient future. Working together with ABB Group GRPA, establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in U.S. Congress, Executive agencies, trade and industry associations, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations, external consultants, Washington offices of peer companies, and more.•\tServing as representative, educator, and lobbyist on policies of importance to the motors and drives businesses at federal, state, and local governments, as well as trade associations and NGOs, in collaboration with ABB Group GRPA. Leading position development and submission of official comments on regulatory matters and public comment opportunities related to motors and drives businesses. •\tDeveloping and executes federal legislative, regulatory, and executive advocacy strategies to advance and defend ABB’s market position and priorities while developing and implementing advocacy strategies and stakeholder engagement plans to advance ABB market position and priorities.•\tActively monitoring, investigating, researching, and analyzing policy developments, regulatory actions, and political environment at the federal, state, and local government levels, providing advice and counsel to internal stakeholders about policy, regulatory, and political developments that may impact its businesses, markets, and/or customers.
Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s Degree with minimum 12 years experience is required (Juris Doctorate or MBA – Preferred). Additional Preferred Experience Includes:\t5+ years of experience on Capitol Hill and/or federal executive agency, lobbying with corporation, trade association or outside policy consulting organization\tStrategic thinking and planning skills to develop short and long range integrated strategies, applying knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes, government compliance and coalition lobbying.\tAbility to work well with all levels of government, trade associations and public interest group and represent business’ positions with authority and persuasionTravel Expectations: 10%Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
