Schwab’s Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organization offers industry-leading wealth management services to both retail and registered investment advisor (RIA) clients. The team is responsible for Schwab’s wealth management strategy, while delivering industry-leading experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) and Schwab Advisor Network (SAN), along with a broad range of investment products and solutions.

 

We are looking for a Director of Business Strategy to help drive our strategy and operations by collaborating directly with key leaders across our enterprise.

 

The Director will report to the Head of Business Strategy and serve in a Chief of Staff capacity to the MD, Head of WAS and will also be a member of the WAS Leadership Team (WASLT). This leader will be responsible for helping to shape the annual priorities and strategic direction of our enterprise as we continue to chart our growth for the future, including:

Collaborating with the MD, Head of WAS to define and execute on the strategic agenda for the WAS leadership team, including team meetings, offsites and related activities.Proven people leadership experience as a leader of leaders; will directly manage a team of three directs and be expected to orchestrate decision making, workflow and processes across WAS.Leading enterprise and the WAS Leadership Team through strategic planning, objective setting, and portfolio prioritization exercises throughout the year.Developing impactful executive presentations that articulate our vision, strategy, and progress for both internal and external audiences. Identifying opportunities to improve enterprise operations, enhance collaboration and effectiveness and accelerate progress towards strategic priorities.Tracking and synthesizing enterprise reporting of WAS business results on a biweekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.Supporting employee engagement through the development and execution of effective enterprise forums and activities (e.g., all hands, leadership visits, etc.).Partnering closely with key cross-functional partners to advance WAS objectives, including Finance, Employee Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, etc. What you have

Required:

Minimum 5 years in business strategy experience, preferably in consulting or internal strategy group, and a minimum of 10+ years of total work experience.Experience in a highly matrixed, Fortune 500 company, leading teams and driving towards decisions in organizations at the scope and scale of Charles Schwab.At least 5 years of direct people management experience (i.e. hiring, performance mgmt.,, managing a portfolio of initiatives, etc.).Must be able to demonstrate a bias for action and have experience executing autonomously on determined strategy.Exceptional executive presence, emotional maturity, influencing and collaboration skills.Strategic thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills.Ability to develop and share a point of view and create alignment across all levels of the enterprise.Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues as they arise, and drive progress in the face of ambiguity.Experience crafting executive presentations for internal and external audiences that articulate our vision, strategy, and progress. Proven people management skills, including proven ability to coach, develop and build a high-performing team.Strong acumen in financial services and/or wealth management.
