This team is responsible for our global financial close process and establishes the overall control framework for Wealth Management. 

The Director, WM Platform Financial Control is a key leader in Wealth Management Finance, and will be responsible for leading, managing, and empowering a team of accounting and finance professionals, whilst managing the financial control and reporting responsibilities across WM global businesses. You will play a key role in co-piloting with the business to enhance and establish best practices in Wealth Management’s overall control framework, as well as collaborate with various Finance and functional teams and support senior leaders across Finance and the business.

What you will do?

Lead a talented and motivated team responsible for WM Platform financial reporting and controls, including analyses and insights for senior management across Finance, and the business;

Researching and providing technical accounting guidance, as well as addressing specific technical accounting queries raised by multiple stakeholders; including communication to senior management globally through issue life cycle – from identification to implementation and monitoring, and consideration of existing policies and controls.Oversee the financial close cycle for WM, including the timely and accurate reporting of our monthly/quarterly results, and production of key disclosures for consumption by senior management, functional partners, and contribution to external reporting materials.Manage the WM global internal control and governance framework, including setting standards for key control activities and optimization of SOX and non-SOX process through leading the platform onto a risk-based approach for control activities, identification of emerging risk areas, and maintaining an overall strong internal control environment.Responsible for managing and enabling Platform Financial Control infrastructure not limited to reporting hierarchies, financial system enablement, and month-end close requirements. Ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement of infrastructure to maximize efficiency, as well as enhance value-added capabilities for reporting, and strengthen control environment.Establish the team as the key platform financial control conduit for regional and global functional teams, not limited to Performance Management, Business Advisory, Accounting Policy, External Reporting, Head Office Finance, and Group Risk Management.Ownership of WM Balance Sheet GL attestation process and results, working with stakeholders to understand recurring issues and identify ways to close.Enable and deepen relationships with the business and other key stakeholders (e.g., LOB financial control, Performance Management, IT, Risk Management, Accounting Policy, Tax, Capital and other Enterprise Finance partners) striving to be a center of knowledge and excellence for WM and own accountability in resolving all platform finance-related issues.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

CPA designation or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience, and understanding of key disclosure requirements and SOX complianceStrong team and people management abilities, and ability to play a leadership role across a wide group of peersCuriosity to explore better ways of working and motivating the team while maintaining a strong governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency.Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on an ongoing basisExcellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize cross-functional groups to deliver on common goalsSuperior organizational and problem solving skillsAble to consistently exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks quicklyStrong interpersonal skills, due to frequent interaction with Finance Senior Management and External Auditors, with the ability to explain complex issues in a concise and meaningful manner.

Excellent project management skillsExperience and understanding of Wealth Management businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns.Proactive and persistent in issue resolution
