Position Summary This position serves 50% as Director of the Teaching & Learning Resource center and the SELF Design Studio and 50% as Instructional Staff for the M.L.I.S. program in the Information, Library & Research Sciences Department.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Services, the Director of the TRC leads a team providing outstanding service to UNCG students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Director of the TRC is responsible for the development of the department collections; oversight of public and technical services; staff supervision, consisting of one part time librarian, one fulltime support staff and a variety of Graduate Assistant and undergraduate student workers; facilities planning; education reference and instruction; campus and community outreach; acting as a liaison with the College of Education; university, school, department, and professional committees. This is a 12-month Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA) staff position.

Responsibilities in the department include assisting with program coordination, teaching school library courses, supervising school library practica and capstone field experiences and helping to advance the goals of the program through recruiting, marketing and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications Either a doctorate in LIS (or closely related field) plus two years professional experience in a school library OR a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (or closely related degree) with at least five years post MLIS library experience, at least two of which are in a school library, plus a record including a mix of some of the following: presentations, publications, special licensures or certifications, professional service, and/or teaching awards. Demonstrate the necessary personal skills to work independently and incorporate feedback from supervisors into continuous professional improvement. Work collaboratively with peers to establish and maintain a positive work climate. Percentage Of Time 35% Key Responsibility Director of TRC & SELF Design Studio

Essential Tasks Develop and manage the TRC collection. Manage and update the TRC Spaces, Computer Labs, and A/V Equipment. Maintain TRC website and social media channels. Host SOE, local school system, and community events in TRC. Serve as sponsor and coach for Middle College Battle of the Books team – requires NCSLMA membership. Provide support to UNCG Admissions and SOE Office of Student Success by welcoming attendees for campus tours, UNCG Admitted Spartans days (4 Saturdays per year), prospective student tours, etc. Provide support for UNCG Homecoming, Science Everywhere and other campus and community events. Serve on SOE and campus committees. Attend and present at local, state and national conferences to promote awareness and visibility of the TRC/SELF. Percentage Of Time 5% Key Responsibility Budget Management Essential Tasks Maintain all aspects of departmental funds; maintain budgets for the TRC & SELF Design Studio, non-state discretionary funds; expend funds for all departmental business including travel expenses, operational expenses, and event / conference expenditures; maintain and reconcile the departmental PCard; initiate paperwork for student-related payment actions including federal work study students; complete all HR relates task for TRC & SELF Design Studio; assist in budget creation; access financial and budget data for reporting.
