Director- Behavior Health Services | Behavioral Health | Full-Time
Overview The Director of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is responsible for the provision of patient care related to Behavioral Health programs for UF Health St Johns. Responsible for overseeing the strategic, operational, and clinical functions of the behavioral health service lines. The Director of BHS will drive program innovation, quality care, and operational excellence while ensuring patient-centered care is delivered in a safe and effective environment. The Director of BHS will lead efforts to expand and optimize service lines, manage financial resources, and foster collaborative partnerships across multidisciplinary team and community organizations. The Director of BHS will continuously enhance care outcomes and address the evolving needs of patients, families and the community. Responsibilities Leads the development and execution of a strategic vision for the department, focusing on expanding services, integrating evidence-based practices, and improving patient care and clinical outcomes. Identifies opportunities for programmatic growth that meets the evolving needs of patients and the community. Provides overall direction and leadership for quality of service line in the department to ensure optimal patient and staff experience and quality metrics. Evaluate and manage escalated issues for appropriate resolution. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. Establishes the department's service line vision and goals in collaboration with the Administration, the multidisciplinary team, the program Medical Directors, and all other stakeholders within and outside the organization. Coordinates action plans and outcomes monitoring consistent with the overall strategic goals and imperatives by applying clinical and operational management skills to meet or exceed established quality, patient satisfaction, and financial/operational goals. Monitors patient, staff, and stakeholder satisfaction for service quality. Investigate and take appropriate action regarding complaints with patient care or other services. Ensures patient needs are resolved through the use of multidisciplinary team strategies. Leads the department’s response to behavioral health crises, including high-acuity patient needs and escalated situations, ensuring patient and staff safety. Ensuring the department is well-equipped to handle high-risk cases safely and effectively. Ensures departmental policies and procedures align with current regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices. Manages the financial effectiveness of all department operations by reviewing and analyzing income, consumption of resources, contributions to the department mission, and developing trends. Directs the preparation of financial and operational reports for leadership, highlighting key metrics and program contribution. Daily monitoring of labor and non-labor resources, including responding to changes in the department business, which may affect budget goals. Leads business plan development process for new programs and services. Identify, apply for and manage grant funding opportunities to support behavioral health initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals. Develop compelling grant proposals, oversee compliance with funding requirements, and track financial performance to optimize resource utilization. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to enhance funding prospects and sustain program growth through strategic financial planning. Ensures departmental policies and procedures align with current regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices. Drives a culture of continuous learning and professional development, mentoring staff to enhance skills. Oversees recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, termination, and employee engagement of all service line staff. Ensures adequate daily staffing levels and provides resources to staff for patient care needs. Performs all other duties as assigned by management within job scope. Qualifications Master's Prepared or Bachelor's Degree fom Accredited School of Nursing with 7 years related experience is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Clinical Behavioral Health leadership is required. Active Florida Nursing License is required. Level 2 DCF Background Check required at time of hire. BLS, provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire. Completion of WELLE training within 90 days of hire, annual re-certification required ongoing.
