What You Will Do:
You will be an integral member of Abbott’s global Corporate Economics team, supporting a variety of Abbott divisions and functions while assisting on economic messaging for Executive leadership. We are looking for an experienced and creative thinker who can apply economic and financial principles that link the external environment with internal performance, while maintaining and creating tools that support business needs. A successful candidate will have experience using applied economics in a corporate setting.
The Director will be responsible for a variety of projects that support company planning, economic forecasting, pricing, and risk management while operating within the framework of established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Specific tasks may include:
Providing timely analysis of underlying economic and industry trends and creating output for management and other internal paritiesMaintaining the global economic outlook and key insights for business leadersResearching current economic and policy events that impact Abbott’s businessTracking and reporting leading indicators for the executive team and business divisionsPerforming statistical and econometric analysis including macroeconomic and industry forecastingContributing to strategic reports through qualitative research and quantitative analysisEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
A successful candidate possesses a graduate degree in Economics and can demonstrate an understanding of both economic theory and application. Prior work experience that combines qualitative and quantitative analysis is strongly preferred. Candidates need to be eligible to work in the U.S. without Abbott sponsorship.

Proven experience analyzing the global economy and financial markets, a strong interest in healthcare is preferredExperience working with economic and financial market data from multiple sources and a willingness to perform the underlying analysis needed to generate higher level insights and conclusionsStrong written and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate economic themes effectively and concisely to a business audienceThe ability to critically review and analyze external information and summarize key messages into clear and concise viewpointsExperience with data analytics and econometrics in a platform such as EViews, Stata, or R; strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPointA self-starter with curiosity and the desire to develop their skill setAn ability to work in a team environment, sharing tasks and responsibilitiesAn ability to work with and influence people in varying positions and functionsThe base pay for this position is $143,300.00 – $286,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
