Director Cardiovascular Services, RN
**Description** **THE ROLE** Under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Cardiovascular Services is responsible for the overall strategic planning, business growth and development, implementation, and management of Cardiovascular Services. The Director provides leadership and assumes accountability for patient care management, operational management, human resource management, and operational budget management of Cardiovascular Services (CVIL and Interventional Radiology). The Director is accountable for process management and for the design, implementation and evaluation of processes that meet the efficiencies and key performance and quality indicators for Cardiovascular Services. The Director exhibits behaviors that enhance professional performance and reflect the key moral commitment, ethical principles, values, and philosophy of Providence. The Director demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of patient care principles and evaluation of work performance in order to assure effective behavior in the leadership role. The Director also demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of nursing standards related to assigned units/service specialties. The Director is accountable for the multidisciplinary approach to the quality improvement process through assessment, evaluation, analysis, and revision of intradepartmental and interdepartmental systems that allow for enhanced productivity, cost reduction, physician/employee/patient satisfaction and safe patient care; collaborates multi-disciplinary teams and physician dyad partners to meet key performance indicators. The Director mentors and develops unit leaders and promotes a positive teamwork environment, which includes unit management support, supervision in program development, and participation in the development of effective operational and marketing strategies for particular services. The Director is responsible for the selection, development, and evaluation of the management team and staff within the service. The Director applies leadership skills as the incumbent serves as a representative or chair on multidisciplinary committees and task force committees. Using valid planning principles, develops and prioritizes innovative approaches to business requirements in the development of specific objectives. + Focuses on expected outcomes based on an understanding of systems. + Continuously assesses self and determines own learning needs, seeking assistance and necessary education to acquire new knowledge and skills that enable one to adapt and prepare for a constantly changing environment. + Understands and maintains technical or professional aspects needed for areas of responsibility. + Maintains current knowledge related to clinical services and operations for the unit(s) / service(s) of responsibility. + Applies current knowledge of applicable standards, compliance law, state regulations and related legal issues. + Participates in the departmental efforts to modify care delivery systems, provides leadership in overall departmental focus on care delivery. + Works with other departments to facilitate collaborative efforts in care and service delivery and promotes multidisciplinary patient care and planning as needed. + Serves as a resource to other departments, managers, supervisors and staff regarding related practice and standards and the review and revision of policies as needed. + Supports an organizational structure, which accomplishes objectives with minimal overlap or duplication and productivity, is maximized. + Assists in the development and maintenance of department standards to guide and evaluate nursing practice and operations. + Assesses trends or changes in census, acuity, physician preferences, etc., and determines impact on staffing. Plans with leadership team and uses staff resources in a cost-efficient manner, anticipating patent census and clinical trends. + Monitors the department’s staffing and scheduling system to assure correct and consistent implementation on the unit. Participates in corrective action plan as needed. + Responds and provides direction and leadership in crisis and emergency situations. + Anticipates potential problem situations and intervenes to offset adverse impact. Communicates situations with Nursing and/or Hospital Administration that warrant follow-up. + Assures services and care are provided to meet the developmental and age-related needs for the usual patient population(s) for their clinical area(s). + Fosters an environment to develop leadership skills and competencies for managers. + Provides supervision, leadership and development to staff. + Provides leadership in coordination of projects involving equipment and/or remodeling. + Provides leadership to assigned Service Line as demonstrated by the performance of core competencies. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing + Master's Degree in Nursing/Business or related field (preferred) + California Nursing License + 5 years of current nursing experience, three of which were in management + Previous leadership experience in a Cardiovascular or Perioperative setting (preferred) + Basic computer knowledge and competency skills. **About Providence** At Providence, our strength lies in Our Promise of “Know me, care for me, ease my way.” Working at our family of organizations means that regardless of your role, we’ll walk alongside you in your career, supporting you so you can support others.
