Director - Clinical Laboratory

Salary Range: $60.30 - $83.13
Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.
Position Summary: • Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer and in consultation with the Medical Director. • Has responsibility for services at all LVMC Facilities (Acute Hospital, Comprehensive Care Center and Ambulatory Services). • Must be licensed to perform all duties and responsibilities of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. • Hire and train qualified personnel to staff and operate the laboratory 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. • Investigate, recommend and purchase instrumentation. • Ensure that the laboratory complies with all laws, regulations and guidelines set forth by the state and federal government. • Maintain laboratory standards that meet or exceed those set by CAP, JCAHO and CLIA. • Manage the human resources of the laboratory in compliance the Personnel Policies and Procedures set forth by the Healthcare District. • Prepare an annual budget that is approved by the CFO, CEO and Board of Directors. • Manage the financial resources of the laboratory in compliance with an approved budget. • Participate in the Healthcare Districts Integrated Quality Improvement Plan. • Submit semi-annual reports to the Medicine Sub-Committee and the Board of Directors. • Participate in Committees and Quality Teams as appropriate.

Position Qualifications: • Education: Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. • Experience: Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience which demonstrates the ability to satisfactorily perform the responsibilities and duties of the position. • Licensure: Must possess a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license • Skills/Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, coworkers, hospital and medical staff. Ability to cope with stressful situations on a regular basis. Ability to work rapidly while maintaining quality. Ability to prioritize activities as appropriate. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
