Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions (EDDS) creates unified digital experiences for prospects and members across the entire customer lifecycle, powered by data and supports AXP growth by designing best-in-class digital & data capabilities and platforms.
EDDS is seeking a Director, Control Management to support business unit (1LOD) implementation of a new operational risk management framework. The role will thoughtfully coordinate changes impacting the business stemming from this build out through effective program management and collaboration with leaders across Operational Risk Management (ORM), Control Management, Compliance, Audit and the Business Unit.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Collaborate with ORM and Control Management pillar leads to define program build out workstreams (& sub activities), identify critical dependencies and track progress of key milestones. Provide regular reporting and read outs to management, escalating activities at-risk and collaborating on approach for path-to-green. Support enterprise needs of the Business Unit Control Management teams which may include, but not limited to publication of dashboards & scorecards, hiring events and training. Collaborate with business and control management leaders to evaluate and enhance our operating model, striking the right balance between business outcomes and risk management. Lead Working Sessions & BU Community of Practice to facilitate transparency, sharing of insights and best practices amongst business leaders. Champion risk management practice within the business. Foster a culture of risk awareness and ongoing improvement within the team and the broader organization.Minimum Qualifications
6+ Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU/tech counterparts Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards Experience within financial services industry Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectivelyPreferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous Experience in at least one of the following: Translating operational risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines Review the tracking and identifying of issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed thresholds Oversee the implementation of the operational risk governance frameworks Communicating and ensuring understanding and adherence to operational risk procedures and standards Manage the operational risk exam management processes Experience in financial services industry, preferably within a globally systemically important bank (G-SIB) ORMCMSalary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
