This position exists to provide the overall administration, supervision, and direction of all security and production staff within the correctional industry program at MCF-Rush City. The individual is responsible for developing and maintaining full and part-time assignments for incarcerated individuals assigned to the industry program. The purchasing of raw materials and production equipment, production and quality control, distribution of finished goods and services, and the coordination and integration of this program with other programs that exist within the DOC is the direct responsibility of the Industry Director. This individual is responsible for the fiscal management of all State and MINNCOR resources and budgets assigned to the program as well as the development, solvency and the cost of goods sold in the Industry Program Specific responsibilities include: + Direct the financial aspects (including inventory management) of the industry program as they pertain to the gross margin, manage agreed-to budgetary percentages to maximize budget commitment ensuring that it is a cost effective and self-sufficient business operation in accordance with MINNCOR and Institution's mission. + Administer the services and manufacturing components of the industry program. + Provide assistance to the marketing, sales, and product development units so that sales and marketing representatives have factory access, cost sheets are done on a timely basis, manufacturing and logistical services are considered, and customer relationships are maintained. + Manage the security operations of an industry program within the confines of an adult correctional facility and the support of the security unit in MINNCOR. + Participate with the administrative team so that the business activities of the industry program are coordinated with the objectives and activities of the institution at large. + Form immediate and long-range plans for the industry program and its peripheral components in coordination with MINNCOR and institution objectives and develop strategies to implement those plans, ensuring the continuous growth and development of the industry program. + Coordinate the MINNCOR Quality Control program. This position is located at a correctional facility and has contact with incarcerated individuals. **Minimum Qualifications** To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. + Three (3) years or more of supervisory experience supervising employees in a diverse manufacturing operation with an emphasis in scheduling, resource management, quality control process, capacity requirements, business planning, and budget/financial management. (NOTE: A Doctorate degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience; Master’s degree may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience; Associate’s degree may substitute for six months (6) of experience.) + Experience providing leadership in leading teams to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, or goal accomplishment. Leadership experience can include experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead, or completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g., ELI or SLI), or comparable leadership program. Leading teams to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, or goal accomplishment Applicants meeting the above qualification(s) will be further assessed on the following: + The ability to provide leadership, direct line management and supervision to staff assigned to deliver quality products and services. + Knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures sufficient to oversee budget preparation and annual operational spending objectives and to monitor capital improvements and disbursements. + Knowledge of human resources principles, procedures, and systems sufficient to manage and maintain a harmonious labor relations environment in accordance with collective bargaining contracts/plans and affirmative action/equal opportunity policies. + Written and oral communication skills sufficient to effectively relay information to executive management, staff, and customers ensuring successful business operations and to elicit cooperation from subordinates to resolve situations affecting the organization's ability to meet its goals and objectives. **Preferred Qualifications** The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: + A post-secondary degree in business management, finance, or a related field. + Five (5) or more years of experience supervising employees with an emphasis in production scheduling, resource management, quality control process, capacity requirements, business planning, and budget/financial management. + Training and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma. + Experience working in a correctional setting. + Knowledge and experience working with ERP systems **Physical Requirements** The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position and may be required to complete a tuberculosis screening.
