The Director & Counsel will provide enterprise-wide employment law advice and support. This position will be located at GDIT’s headquarters office in Falls Church, VA, and will report to the Staff Vice President, Assistant General Counsel for Employment Law.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources (including Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, HR Compliance, and Benefits), Ethics, management and other internal stakeholders on employee-related legal and compliance mattersTrack changes to state and federal employment laws and advise the organization on necessary adjustments to policies and practicesDraft and/or revise employee agreements, policies, employee communications, position statements, and responses to demand lettersRepresent the Company before federal and state agencies, including DOL/OFCCP, DOL/Wage & Hour, EEOC and state human rights agencies Manage employment litigation and interface with outside counselProvide training to human resources and management regarding compliance with employment laws and handling employee relations concernsWHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCED:
Required:
J.D. degreeActive state bar membership in good standingAt least 7+ years of employment law experienceComprehensive knowledge of relevant employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, PWFA, ADEA, FLSA, FCRA, and USERRAExcellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skillsExcellent advocacy, negotiation, writing and organizational skillsAbility to build relationships at all levels of the organization and to provide business-focused legal adviceAbility to multi-task and work in a complex and fast-paced environment with multiple projects and prioritiesPreferred:
Experience at a law firm and in-houseExperience working for a government contractorExperience with prevailing wage statutesExperience with labor lawAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearanceLocation: Hybrid
