**General Counsel’s Organization (GCO):**
Where great legal minds influence global business strategy.
The General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) at American Express is seeking a Director & Counsel to join the Global Enterprise Services team to support artificial intelligence (AI) issues. This role will provide global support to business and legal colleagues across a range of issues related to artificial intelligence and report to the Vice President & Senior Counsel, Lead AI GCO.
**Role & Responsibilities:**
+ Collaborate with colleagues around the world on cutting edge artificial intelligence issues.
+ Support enterprise enablement of AI technologies and related products and services.
+ Help develop and evolve enterprise positions on novel legal issues presented by AI.
+ Support the monitoring and communication of trends in AI, including emerging, AI-related US state and federal laws and regulations, and identification of potential issues and opportunities for the company.
+ Support AI-related risk management processes and the refinement of enterprise policies, procedures, and standards concerning AI.
+ Conduct legal reviews of company statements concerning AI including those made externally, and to third parties and regulators.
+ Support the development and maintenance of resources for GCO colleagues encountering AI issues in their practices.
+ Help build and maintain positive working relationship across the legal department, business, and technology teams.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ J.D. (or equivalent) with admission to practice law in the U.S.
+ 6 years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Be passionate about AI technology and a voracious learner.Prior experience working with artificial intelligence or machine learning technology is also a plus.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with passion for generating creative and innovative solutions
+ Proven ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively, in both written and oral format, and to synthesize complex issues for business teams
+ Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to work well in cross-functional team settings
+ Ability to gain credibility, manage expectations and generate buy-in through relationship building and communication
**Qualifications**
Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
