DHL Supply Chain is looking for a Director of Fleet Operations to support our thriving Dedicated Transportation business with over 4,500 pieces of over-the-road (OTR) equipment.
Job Responsibilities
Actively manage and optimize the DSC NA OTR fleet from an operational point of view, with focus on TCO, safety, and compliance.Identify and present solutions and new programs that will improve the fleet's operational and financial performance.Supervise Fleet Operations Manager to ensure duties are performed accurately, and in alignment with agreed processes/methodologies.Lead, direct, and/or assist with tactical execution (new equipment acquisition/deployment, up fitting, transfers, returns, disposals, systems implementations, branding initiatives, XM radio, etc.).Maintain and grow relationships with key OEM suppliers/vendors and partner with Procurement as appropriate. Lead overall R&M program definition, management, and execution across sites/sectors.Act as primary point of contact with Operations regarding R&M program/SOPs execution, and supplier management.Act as escalation level for tactical issue resolution.Conduct periodic site audit visits to assess performance and provide training.Maintain and grow relationships with key R&M suppliers/providers, with focus on Operational aspects (i.e., program design, SOPs, performance evaluation, exception handling).Conduct QBRs with service providers to review performance and drive continuous improvement agenda.Support vehicle accident repair process from an operational point of view (review of repair estimates, coordination of repairs/subs, etc.)Support new business process as necessary to understand needs, determine required specs, obtain quotes/pricing as necessary.Maintain knowledge of key compliance requirements and ensure DHL adherence to these requirements.Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to accurately capture and communicate mileage, fuel purchase, and other data required for compliance and taxation purposes.Manage the license and registration process for all vehicles.Assist with creation and maintenance of performance analytics and KPIs which help to evaluate site, fleet, and provider performance and drive the continuous improvement agenda.Interface with Operations to determine optimal equipment specs and configurations; maintain knowledge of current alternatives and implications regarding cost, performance, interchangeability, etc.Maintain knowledge of latest technological systems, maintain relationships w/suppliers, negotiate pricing, coordinate installation.Work with DHL sites to market and sell used equipment.Manage quarterly site audits of all fleet equipment. Verify vehicles have required maintenance including current PM, annual inspections and ensure all OEM service/safety recalls have been completed. Validate all accident repairs have been completed and meet OEM repair standards. Audit equipment to insure they are clean and identify any vehicles that are being neglected in terms of cleanliness inside/outside the cab.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred.3+ years of logistics industry experience, required.7+ years of experience in a supervisory/management role, required.5+ years experience in fleet management, required.1+ years experience with alternate fuel vehicles, preferred.Our Organization has a business casual environment and focuses on teamwork, associate development, training, and continuous improvement.
