About the team and the role:

The eBay Government Relations team in EMEA is looking to add a new team member in France (Paris). France is one of the EU’s most active Member States in terms of developing new legislation, including but not limited to legislation related to digital tax, tax collect & remit and revenue reporting. It is also host to the OECD headquarters, where international tax and tax-related regulations are being developed. The Director GR France & International Tax will focus on representing eBay GR in France in general and leading international government relations engagement on tax policy in close coordination with eBay's Tax team. This new role is based in Paris and reports to the Senior Director GR Continental Europe, who is based in Berlin.

We are looking for a passionate professional, a driven teammate with experience in the tax, tech and commerce sector, who is eager to take ownership and lead our engagement on all international and national tax policy and regulatory matters, as well as our Government Relations campaigns in France.

What you will accomplish:

As Director GR France & International Tax you will take on the following responsibilities:

Develop and lead eBay Government Relation's international and national direct and indirect tax engagement, as well as proactive measures in France to positively influence the public policy dialog and legislation on e-commerce with a focus on 3rd party marketplaces.

Build coalitions and leverage third-party partners and trade associations to achieve advocacy goals.

Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects on tax policy and regulation.

Interact with multiple team members including Government Agencies and multilateral organisations, such as the OECD.

Regular travel encouraged – particularly between Paris and Brussels as well as other international capitals.

What you will bring:

University Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in fiscal law and/or political science; Demonstrated ability in tax (policy) and government relations (multi-national experience preferred);

French native and very high degree of proficiency (spoken and written) in English are indispensable; excellent writing, communication, and negotiating skills;

Detailed understanding of government, fiscal policy and related legislative, regulatory and political processes; existing and proven network in French government indispensable;

A creative and strategic problem solver with leadership skills to effectively work with and influence diverse audiences, both internal and external; a demonstrated ability to develop and implement advocacy campaigns; excellent organizational skills; adept at prioritising multiple responsibilities;

A self-starter with an ability to work independently while collaborating closely with and remaining connected to a remote manager and team; results-oriented with excellent social skills and good judgment;

Experience navigating complex, multi-cultural business structures and successfully supporting and collaborating with business leadership; flexible, adaptable, and a shown ability to turn challenges into opportunities; a strong sense of humor is highly welcomed.
