The Director of Health Information Management is responsible for the leadership of managing, reviewing and protecting Health Information of all media types, across Methodist Hospitals at the Northlake and Southlake Campuses.
ResponsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
Responsible for hospital (Northlake and Southlake) timely and accurate coding as part of revenue cycle, assembly and analysis, chart completion, transcription, and the clinical/financial data analyst; Responsible for improving coding through technology and automation, guidelines and coding updates, and compliance audits.Responsible for hospitals enhancing clinical documentation improvement programs through the use of setting standards, expanding education, creating support systems, review and analysis, and use of automation.Responsible for organization-wide managing, reviewing and protecting health information including release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, record retention as well as authorship and authentication of medical record documentation, standardization of medical vocabularies and use of classification systems. Responsible to enhance the release of information using technology such as EPIC My Chart. Serves as an additional resource to the organization’s HIPAA Privacy Officer.Responsible for department’s policies and procedures; budget; education of the staff; and use of automation within the department to improve efficiency, accuracy and timeliness. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, and family, organizational and other medical information. Understands and supports the commitment of Methodist Hospitals in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers. Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications. Highly motivated individual. Good organization and interpersonal skills. Good communication skills.
EDUCATION
All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized accredited College or University. Other majors or courses of study will be considered as meeting these requirements, as long as they are closely related to the essential functions of the position.

HIM Certificate RHIA – Reg. Health Info Administrator Required
Or
RHIT – Reg. Health Info Technician
Masters Business Administration Preferred
