The Director of Hotel Technology is responsible for providing expertise in all areas of hotel technology. This role delivers IT support services by coordinating technology deployments across properties and the enterprise. In this role, you’ll collaborate with leading hospitality brands, translating business needs into innovative tech solutions that enhance guest experiences and operational efficiency. You’ll also serve as a key advisor to property owners, guiding them through technology decisions that drive success. Beyond technical expertise, this position requires strong leadership and a service-oriented mindset. You’ll mentor and support the Technology team, leveraging your hospitality industry experience and advanced technical skills to deliver best-in-class solutions.
ResponsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONS:
4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field appropriate to work of the position; OR related work experience; IT Degree qualification is preferredExpert knowledge of hospitality technology solutions, including but not limited to Property Management Systems, Point of Sale, High Speed Internet Access, Guest Room Entertainment, and Door Lock Systems desired5 years of experience in IT in a managerial capacity preferably in a hotel environment is desired.Hospitality Brand knowledge and/or experience desiredExperience planning for and managing medium to large-scale change and assessing key impacts to stakeholdersDesired knowledge: Network administration PC and network trouble shooting file server configuration backup systems configuration network switch management operating system and application software upgrading.Expert knowledge of anti-virus and firewall management hardware configuration and troubleshooting hotel specific application maintenance and administration.Experience with large technology initiatives and processes needed to lead and/or support delivery and ongoing supportExcellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and follow throughExcellent leadership skills must have a passion for service and have strong interpersonal and team player skills. Ability to listen and incorporate new information and viewpointsAbility to influence and collaborate across multiple areas of the organization while creatively maximizing resource utilizationComfortable in a deadline-driven environment often with changing business prioritiesProven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment within budgets and timelines.Previous experience developing training materials/content/job aidsPrevious experience delivering/facilitating workshops and delivering training in person and virtuallyJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Liaise directly with hotel ownership groups on design and delivery of all IT projects; delivering projects on-time on budget and of high quality.Creates and manages standard processes as well as well-documented and organized projects to support property technologyParticipates in managing and providing subject matter expertise for new initiatives with system impacts and/or dependenciesMaintain records on installation resolution of issues and replacement of equipment and parts.Identify technology requirements and recommend purchases accordinglyOversee systems to understand the requirements for upgrades improvements new systems and preventive maintenance and act promptly to resolve issues if any.Mentor lower tiers to improve their skills and ensure all team members can effectively handle incoming requestsAble to deal with the challenges of a business that is open 24 hours a day.Drives and facilitates effective collaboration and communications between the IT organization and other departments within the company.Builds effective working relationships with third party technology providers and vendors to ensure maximum usage prompt support and cost-effective products.Performs maintenance and upgrades to equipment operating systems firewalls anti-virus protection and other general system utilities and applications necessary to the efficient support of the hotel applications.Ensures development and maintenance of system documentation including network diagrams inventory records and operating procedures.Configuration and deployment of new servers end user equipment and networking equipment where applicableEnsure the consistency and maintainability of existing and new applications by creating maintaining and enforcing standards and procedures (including SOPs) for implementing technical solutions.Software evaluation acquisition and implementation including oversight of basic user technical training and remediation activities.Monitors ensures and manages the acquisition and maintenance of property based systems.Analyzes information identifies current and potential problems and proposes solutions.Monitors computer and network operations at the property level backup/recovery functions are performed on scheduled basis and administration functions for hardware operating and application systems are maintained and completed on consistent basis.Ensures solutions are consistent with the properties’ needs and brand specific environment.Enforces policies and standards protecting company hardware software and other resources at the property.Directs maintenance of equipment and installed software applications inventory for property ensuring compliance with regulations.Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize organize and accomplish work.Determines priorities schedules plans and necessary resources to ensure completion of any property projects on schedule and according to specification.Maintains knowledge of job-relevant issues products systems and processes.Manages vendors for property IT requirements functioning as escalation point for problem resolution.Demonstrates willingness to travel within North America up to 50% of the time.
